I want to extend my thanks for your time at parent-teacher conferences. As teachers and parents, we work together in building and helping the Hanawalt students.

Hanawalt Community

After-school clubs — volunteer drivers needed!

New after-school clubs start Monday, February 17. There are still several students without a ride home from clubs. If you are able to take home a student, please contact oliviaghowe@gmail.com or 515-450-1845 as soon as possible. Thank you to our volunteer drivers who make clubs possible for our students who would not otherwise be able to engage in clubs. Let's work together to ensure each student is able to participate in a club!

Hawk's Night Out 2025


Mark your calendar to celebrate Hawk's Night Out 2025! Our biggest Hanawalt Community (PTA) fundraising event of the year supports all students to access events, enrichment experiences, supplies, and so much more. This year, Hawk's Night Out will be hosted by Willow on Grand, on April 24th from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Expect an adult night of fun, auction bidding, and building community. Tickets will be available soon.

Volunteers Needed
Now is also a great time to get involved with Hawks' Night Out. We have a few roles that don't require regular meeting attendance and day-of volunteer needs. Learn more and sign up here.

The Book Fair is coming up!

Students are invited to shop the book fair on February 17th and 18th during the school day. Kids can shop without cash thanks to eWallet, a digital payment account for purchases at the Scholastic Book Fair. It’s convenient, simple, and secure. Support your Girl Scouts next week!

Make sure to head inside after school and after club pickup next Thursday 2/20 and Friday 2/21 and grab yourself some of your favorite cookies! The Hanawalt Girl Scouts will be selling cookies from 235-4:00pm. All flavors will be available including GF and vegan options! Cookies are $6 a box and funds support troop activities, badges, camps, etc! Thank you for supporting our Girl Scout troops!

Party in the Park

Mark your calendars for the third annual Hanawalt Party in the Park! Thursday, May 15, 4-6 pm, Frisbie Park. We will celebrate spring and all of the cultures that come together at our school with activities, food, and games. Families welcome!
