6/2/25 - Student and Family Edition
Principal's Message
As the school year draws to a close, I'm thrilled to share some incredibly exciting news about how we've met and exceeded our school culture and academic learning targets! This year has been a testament to what we can achieve when we work together as a strong, supportive community.
A Culture of Health and Wellness
One of our main goals this year was to meet the health and wellness needs of every student, and I'm proud to say we've done just that! This success is a direct result of our strong school-family partnership, a robust health and wellness curriculum, and fantastic programming that truly supports the development of the whole child. Programs like Power Hour, Friday Exploratory, and our student-friendly schedule have all contributed to a vibrant and nurturing environment where every student can thrive.
We have so many exciting culminating events coming up to celebrate our incredible work and growth in school culture, climate, and health and wellness. These include the Evanne Weirich Event, fun end-of-year class trips, our spirited Field Day at BMA, a joyful end-of-year BBQ, a refreshing school-wide hike, and, of course, our well-deserved graduation ceremony!
Exceptional Academic Achievements
Our academic goals, which focused on each student making a year's growth in reading and math, have also been achieved with outstanding results. This success stems from the unwavering support students, staff, and families have shown each other, alongside our collective commitment to maintaining high expectations for academic growth.
Our incredible teaching staff truly delivered by designing and implementing engaging academic programming and skillfully meeting the needs of all learners. The proof is in the pudding: our students showed remarkable growth on the iReady Reading and Math Diagnostic Assessments. The median percent progress towards typical growth was an incredible 127% in Math and an even more impressive 130% in Reading! This means that, as a whole, Newark Street School continues to demonstrate high growth by exceeding the typical year's growth for students.
We couldn't have achieved these amazing milestones without the dedication and hard work of each and every one of you – our incredible students, devoted families, and passionate staff. Thank you for making this such a successful and memorable year at Newark Street School!
Sincerely,
The Newark Street School Team
