Dear CES Family,

I want to offer huge thanks to you for your efforts to keep your kids in school. Does good attendance matter? Significantly so. Our teachers pack a lot into a day, and when students aren't in class it can be very challenging to catch up. Feelings of frustration can follow and it's challenging for teachers to find the time to catch up individual students.

So why the congratulations to you? Because of the following bit of data: during the 22/23 school year, 55.8% of our students were experiencing "chronic absenteeism," which means that they finished the year missing more that 10% of our school days throughout the year. Not a pretty number. During the 23/24 school year, this was reduced to 15.8%. This is an incredible reduction in chronic absenteeism and a huge win for our kids. Thank you for your efforts! Also, huge thanks to our attendance clerk, Mrs. Gerbatz. She did much to keep all of us on track. We are making every effort this year to do even better for the sake of our students. Thanks in advance for your efforts in this arena.
