Message from the Principal
I want to bring to your attention a serious and ongoing issue. Unfortunately, some students who do the right thing by reporting inappropriate behavior (vandalism, threats, vaping, etc) are being shamed by their peers, which discourages others from speaking up. We need your support in addressing this problem. Please speak with your child about the importance of safety and standing up for what is right. Together, we can work to create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for everyone.
Thank you for your partnership.
Sincerely,
Principal Silk
Family Friendly Award
We are thrilled to announce that Bel Air Middle School is the Fourth Quarter Family Friendly School Award winner!!
Bel Air Middle is now a two-time winner of this prestigious award!
The Harford County community nominated and voted for the schools worthy of this honor, which placed Bel Air Middle as one of the top three finalists. Then, the finalist schools were reviewed and scored by the HCPS Customer Service Task Force on the following criteria (the National PTA Standards): Welcoming All Families, Effective Communication and Relationship Development, Family Efficacy, School Performance and Achievement Plan, and Community Partners.
Math Placement for Next Year
Attention Parents of 6th and 7th Grade Students:
On Friday, May 30th, your child’s math teacher will be sending home a letter with their recommendation for math placement for the upcoming school year.
Please be sure to check your child’s backpack or folder for this important information. If you have any questions after reviewing the recommendation, feel free to reach out to your child’s math teacher.
8th Grade Activities
The BAMS PTA is working with the staff at Bel Air Middle to plan some fun end-of-year activities for our 8th grade class.
DANCE, June 6th 6pm-8pm:
BAMS PTA is funding the DJ, decorations, and pizza for the dance, along with the already donated drinks and snacks. The dance is free, but limited to current 8th graders at BAMS.
Students will be given a permission slip, for entry to the dance, closer to the event date.
YEARBOOK SIGNING, June 13th: BAMS PTA is providing a refreshment station with cookies and waters.
We need your help to make these events a success! Please consider signing up to help.

Outdoor Classroom
We are excited to share the opening of the BAMS outdoor classroom! BAMS PTA funded this project thanks to the generous support of a grant from Maryland American Water and the supporters of the PTA's Panther Prowl fundraiser.
BAMS students will have the opportunity to use this alternative learning space for fun and engaging lessons and other school activities. The school admin team and the PTA collaborated together to bring this vision to reality. Here's wishing for A LOT of sunny days to learn outside!
Magic of Science Fair
On May 17th, HCC hosted a science fair that was open to all middle school students in the county. The judges awarded two winners at each grade level and BAMS took home two of the possible six prizes. Chloe King won runner up for 8th grade and Zeke Cassilly won first place for 6th grade. Congratulations to all who participated.
