CDA Reads coming to you: Imagine Buses to hit the road
CDA Reads will hit the road this summer with Imagine Buses visiting schools and neighborhoods to help elementary students stay connected to reading and build their own libraries at home.
The Imagine Buses will be out in the community from June 28 to August 12. They will stop in at Lakes Middle School, Fernan STEM Academy, Skyway Elementary School, Atlas Elementary School, Bryan Elementary School, Hayden Meadows Elementary School, Dalton Elementary School, the Kroc Center, and several other locations. A complete list of locations with dates/times will be shared on our website and through District email in the coming weeks.
Reading buddies will be available to read with participating students. In addition, each student will receive two free books per visit. Snacks and games too!
Additional focus on summer reading for select students
This summer, elementary students needing extra help in English language arts have been invited to participate in our CDA Reads program at Borah Elementary School. Our elementary schools selected students who would most benefit from this opportunity, and the families were invited to participate.
The summer reading program will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 12 noon, from June 15 to July 29. Lunch is included. The Coeur d’Alene and Hayden city libraries will participate. District buses are available to transport students to and from the school.

Students entering grades K-6 may register for Camp Invention: Recharge this summer at Northwest Expedition Academy. This one-week camp of learning fun will be June 21-25, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Here's what's in store:
CONFIDENCE: Campers find their own unique voice and discover sound waves in action through reverse engineering, then market their extraordinary inventions with friends as creative entrepreneurs.
PERSISTENCE: In this high-energy adventure, kids build and test a launching device to overcome challenges while exploring fun physics concepts like trajectory and velocity.
CREATIVITY: Kids experiment with circuits and energy to create a robotic, solar-powered cricket inspired by biomimicry, then use empathy and creative problem solving to build fun-filled custom habitats.
PROBLEM SOLVING: Children learn how to adapt as they design and prototype a nature-inspired morphing vehicle to submerge, soar or sprint in Super Road Rally!
