Te Aroha Primary School - Wk 6
Introducing Tikapa Moana
Kia ora parents and whānau,
We start your journey on the WAIHOU River passing through the community of Te Aroha. From its headwaters it makes its way north to TIKAPA MOANA, the Hauraki Gulf. The sea is your WHANAUNGA so children need to surround themselves with people who matter and can support them.
In our hub we move on to ‘bigger waters’ and here we learn to be more independent - both in daily life and as learners. We are surrounded by people who can encourage us to be the best versions of ourselves….Kia tu, kia Maia, kia Manawanui.
Hub Assemblies
Our focus has been on the values of Responsibility and Respect. In our hub this is demonstrated through showing responsibility for our actions and choices as well as our belongings. We show respect for one another and for our learning environments by being active listeners and active learners who endeavour to be accepting of differences in abilities and in opinions. Well done to Myah, Kayne, Nikita, Jaya, Laysharn and Karli for being awarded Respect and Responsibility certificates at last week’s hub assembly.
Our Unit / Inquiry
Our topic work this term is centered around making ‘Connections’. We are looking at making connections through learning our personal pepeha. Some of the Room 7 students were able to share their pepeha with the hub.
Library Notice
We are proud of our senior students who have stepped up to take on the roles of Student Librarians. The library is open at lunchtime for students to have books issued and returned, and for students to be able to have a quiet space to hang out. If anyone has good quality games (board or card games) that they no longer require and would like to donate them to the school library, our students would truly appreciate having them.
Sports notices from Mrs Paul
Netball: A note will be coming home today for all year 5-8 students who are keen to play. This is an expression of interest only. Netball will be on a Wednesday night - Future Ferns from 3.30 and 5-8 from 4.30.
