Every parent receiving this newsletter has likely been asked at some point, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” As your student progresses through high school, this question will arise frequently. We believe schools should assist students in navigating this decision by offering relevant coursework and experiences to make them college or career ready. Discovering what you don’t want to pursue is just as valuable as identifying your interests. Ultimately, this guidance helps students make informed choices during course registration, starting with middle school electives.
ROCORI Secondary is aligning courses with specific career pathways, allowing all students to select a pathway to guide their registration choices. As they advance, students will have hands-on opportunities to explore careers within their chosen pathway. The aim is for students to find a fitting and enjoyable career path before committing to post-high school education. Pathways can be changed; there are no permanent decisions—only temporary ones.
Mark your calendars for ROCORI Registration Nights on January 20th and January 27th. These evenings will provide an opportunity to discuss strengths and interests, helping families support students through the registration process. More information will follow, but we want to let families know that registration is changing and what is happening on these evenings.
