Hello GMSS families,

We have completed our first full week of the school year! Students are working hard to learn expectations and routines and jumping into learning. It has been a wonderful start of the 24/25 school year.

We do have open houses coming up for all grade levels:

Tuesday, August 27th - 6th grade open house 5:30 - 7:00pm

Thursday, September 5th - 7th & 8th grade open house 5:30-7:00pm

Open houses are a time to walk your child's schedule and meet and greet teachers, counselors and administration.

Next week students begin to take our MAP assessments. MAP scores allow us to meet our students needs and help grow them all year. It is important to have chromebooks charged and a positive mindset :)

Attendance is an important part of being successful in school! Please make all efforts to be in school and if your child is absent, you may call the office or go on the parent portal in Infinite Campus and put in the absence, including the reason.

Lastly - Again this year, we will not be allowing DOOR Dash/Uber eat deliveries to the school and sadly drivers will be turned away.

Each week I will share about a way that we recognize students at GMSS - This week’s student recognition update: Student Raffle Tickets! Every day students have the opportunity to earn raffle tickets to be submitted at lunch. Weekly, each grade level earns several prize drawings. Any names not selected in the weekly drawing have their tickets put into the monthly reward drawing for gift cards. Each ticket not picked there gets added to the quarterly raffle ticket drawing for the $250 gift card, each 9 weeks! Stay tuned for more, next week!

Buses/Parent drop offs/walkers and bike riders:

Thank you for your patience as we work through buses and new routines this year! Our students safety is always the most important so thank you for following the drop off routes and being mindful of our walkers and bike riders!

Welcome back from our PTO! PTO is sponsoring our COLOR SPLASH fundraiser this year and every student will be involved! Please see the attached flyer. The fundraiser kicks off September 9th and the event is Friday, September 27th. All donations go directly to GMSS.

Our PTO meetings are the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm. We run our meetings virtually and hope to have many attend! meet.google.com/uyf-duag-hbg

GRIN (Gahanna Residents In Need) is providing supplemental food for students in need. Please fill out the form if you need for your student to receive extra food for the weekend. Your student would bring this home from school with them each week. Please keep in mind that this may not be enough food to get your student through the entire weekend. You may submit the form multiple times for multiple students.
