Hello Jackson Families!
We hope everyone is enjoying the last few weeks of Summer Break and finding ways to relax and stay cool! I can't believe how quickly the break is flying by, but we will be ready to welcome our Jackson Jaguars back to school on Tuesday, August 13!
To keep our families informed and give everyone a little head start on the 2024-2025 school year, we would like to share some back-to-school information in this edition of the Jackson eNews!
- IMPORTANT UPDATE - We realize that many families have had issues with creating a Skyward Family Access Account and completing registration forms. To assist with this, we will offer Skyward registration assistance at Jackson from 1:00 - 5:30 p.m. preceding our Meet the Teacher Event on Monday, August 12.
- Plano ISD/City of Plano Back-to-School Event is today, Thursday, August 1! Plano ISD families in need can register to receive a backpack filled with school supplies, event registration link. Students must be present with a ticket in order to receive a backpack. Immunizations will also be available - Read more and sign up.
- New this year - elementary dismissal time is 3:00 p.m! The Cafeteria will serve breakfast from 7:00 - 7:30 a.m. Due to District-wide security changes, parents are only allowed to walk their child to their classroom on the 1st day of school and all parents must exit the building so we can start our school day at 7:40. After the first day, any parent who enters the building must get a visitor badge after presenting their license. Please read the Attendance Section and Back to School Procedures Section below for more information.
- Parents of PreK and Kindergarten students will be able to learn more about the expectations, curriculum and goals of each grade level during PreK/Kinder Orientation Night on Thursday, August 8, from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Registration assistance with Skyward Family Access will also be available for PreK/Kinder families from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. PTA will be set up in the gym with school supply packs available for sale and Jackson spirit wear. - Kindergarten will host "Popsicles in the Park," on Friday, August 9, from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Longhorn Park next to the school. All incoming Jackson Kindergarteners and their families are invited to come and enjoy popsicles with the Kindergarten Team. - Students in PreK through 5th grades will have a chance to meet their teacher for the 2024-25 school year at the Meet the Teacher Event on Monday, August 12, from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Our amazing PTA will be on hand in the gym selling pre-packaged, grade level School Supply packs (while supplies last), planners required for 3rd-5th grade students, and Jackson spirit wear. It's also a great time to join our PTA and sign up for volunteer opportunities.

"Attend Today to Succeed Tomorrow"
Regular attendance to school is so important to your student's success because when your child is at school every day, they are learning and growing! We need your help to ensure your student comes to school every day. You can help by making sure that your student goes to bed at a reasonable hour. If you are bringing your student to school, you will need to drop off your student between 7:00 - 7:30 so that they are prepared to start the day, otherwise, your student will be counted as tardy.
Unless they are sick, your student needs to come to school every day. If they are sick, then a note will need to be submitted on Skyward Family Access or turned into the office.
Please remember that Texas has attendance laws and there are consequences to not attending school regularly. See below for the state attendance laws:
Unexcused Absences (Full/Day or Parts of Days)- Education Code 25.093 and
Family Code 51.03
A violation of compulsory attendance occurs when a child has unexcused voluntary absences on 10 or more days or parts of days within a 6 month period.
Truancy Referral may be forwarded to the Truancy Office after all student and parent interventions have been done and student has ten (10) or more unexcused absences, and if a Warning Notice has been given to the parent/guardian/student.
If you have any questions or concerns, you can always contact the front office at (469) 752-2100.
Together, we can make it a great school year!"
Hello Jackson Families!
Jackson’s school and classroom libraries provide a diverse selection of library materials to inspire curiosity and a love for reading. While these materials support our educational goals, they are not part of the formal curriculum. Please take a moment to read the letter below outlining our staff’s role and your parental role in deciding what is an appropriate reading choice for your child. We value your feedback and look forward to working together to achieve your child’s learning goals.
