From Your Principal
Good Afternoon Buena Vista Parents,
I hope you are doing well. There has been so much learning happening with Buena Vista students. This week started with our 5th grade classes leaving for outdoor education on Monday. We have been receiving daily updates on all of the amazing learning opportunities they have had over the last few days with the camp naturalists, their teachers and parent volunteers. I can't wait for their return tomorrow afternoon to hear all about their experiences these last few days.
Today our fourth grade students held the Black Heroes Wax Museum. It was great to see how much amazing information our fourth graders learned about each of their heroes and to see them come to life as their hero and share their biography with our other Bulldog learners, staff, and parents. Superintendent Marie Morgan stopped by as well and was so impressed at how prepared our fourth grade students were.
Quick reminder that this Friday is the end of Trimester 2. It is a shortened day schedule on Friday. TK and Kindergarten are dismissed at 11:30 and Grades 1-5 will be dismissed at 12:25.
Thank you so much to those parents that participated in the Youth Truth Survey these last few weeks. I am looking forward to getting your feedback and sharing it with our staff and School Site Council.
SEL Day is March 8
Walnut Creek School District believes that social and emotional learning is an integral part of educating our students. In support of SEL Day (March 8), consider reviewing our district standards or visiting our Parents Guide to Social Emotional Learning site.
Reading Challenge
Our library specialist, Ms. Iyengar, is challenging all Bulldog students to a Reading Challenge during Read Across America week! All students who make time to read EACH DAY from March 4-March 10 can be entered into a prize drawing. Look for the reading challenge to be sent home with your child before March 4. Visit the library website for more info. Send any questions to piyengar@walnutcreeksd.org
It's a great day to be a Bulldog!
Respectfully,
Angela Gramlick
