Hatching Excitement: 3rd Graders in Manly Welcome Baby Chicks
February 25th was a VERY exciting day! For 21 days, 3rd-grade students in Manly studied embryology and incubated chicks in our classroom. On hatch day, students arrived to find two hatched chicks in the cage and had the incredible opportunity to watch a chick hatch during the day. By the end of the day, they had five hatched chicks and one that was very close to popping out.
Over the next few days, they watched the chicks grow and learned about feeding, watering, and cleaning their cage. There was also time for holding the chicks before they made their way to their farm home on Friday, February 28th.

5-12 Band Extravaganza
Central Springs CSD was proud to present its Annual 5-12 Band Extravaganza Tuesday, February 25 at 7:00 pm in the HS Auditorium in Manly! This year’s theme was, “Go West, Young Band!” featuring music from, or inspired by, the Old West! Each grade level, 5th - HS, performed separately first, combining for a “Mass Band” piece at the concert’s conclusion. This year's Extravaganza showcased a record 122-piece band, the largest in Central Springs history! We look forward to the future as our Band Program continues to grow!
Additionally, concerts like the 5-12 Band Extravaganza wouldn't be possible without the help of our fantastic Central Springs Music Boosters. They support our Music Department through fundraising and funding music purchases, instrument purchases and repairs, festival housing and registration fees, as well as our Music Tours among a great many other things. At the conclusion of the 2024-2025 school year, a large portion of our Music Boosters will be phasing out with graduating seniors. If anyone would be interested in supporting our Music Department by volunteering their time as a Music Booster, please contact our current Music Booster President, Rebecca Petersen at rpetersen@centralsprings.net. Thanks for your consideration!

FFA Member Spotlight
Adler Rowe
Meet Adler Rowe, an 18-year-old dedicated member of the Central Springs FFA! Adler enjoys being part of FFA because it allows students to incorporate agriculture into their education and learn more about the role of agriculture in the community.
One of Adler’s favorite FFA events is Drive Your Tractor to School Day. “We got to drive tractors, show them to the K-3 students, and even let them climb inside. It was a great way to share our passion for agriculture with the younger kids,” Adler said.
For Adler’s Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), he works at Crow Creek Farms, where they operate equipment and repair farm machinery. This hands-on experience helps develop valuable skills in mechanics and farm operations.
Adler is a great example of how FFA connects students with real-world agricultural experiences while making learning fun. Keep up the great work, Adler!
