DISTRICT NEWSLETTER - DECEMBER 2023
A MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Dear Decatur Township Families,
Greetings and welcome to the last edition of our newsletter for the calendar year 2023! December brings us into the holiday season, and of course the midpoint of our school calendar with the end of 1st semester. With approximately three weeks of instruction before winter break, this is the ideal time for students to finish the semester strong. Daily school attendance is so important to educational success, and we appreciate your continued communication of absences and medical excusals to school, as well as follow-up with your child to complete school work missed. We encourage you to check in on your child’s grades in Skyward and continue the teamwork between home and school to support your child’s learning.
Congratulations to the DC Hawks Football Team and coaching staff for their outstanding season, which came to a close last Friday when they became the 2023 Class 5A State Runner-Up. Though it was not the final outcome desired, we are #DecaturProud of their representation of DCHS and all accomplishments this season. We extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to the entire Decatur Township community for your support and celebration of the team’s state tournament play.
We hope you will join us for some of the wonderful events our schools have planned this month. Please see the listing below including the annual DCHS Holiday Spectacular, musical performances, and holiday traditions. In closing, Winter Break is scheduled Friday, December 22, 2023, through Friday, January 6, 2024. We wish all of you a happy holiday season, a restful break, and a happy new year for 2024!
Together we are Decatur Proud!
