Summer EBT Food Benefits
Summer EBT is a new grocery benefits program that starts this summer. It helps families buy food for their school-aged children during summer when school is out.

If you believe your child is eligible for Summer EBT but was not signed up automatically, you can still apply.
The state will begin accepting applications for the program this summer. For more information and to be notified when the application period opens, visit the Oregon Department of Human Services website.

In April, Dr. Kenneth Singer and his wife Kenda toured a Springfield High School (SHS) graphic design classroom - a CTE pathway that the Singers helped start with the initial funds for the project more than a decade ago. Dr. and Mrs. Singer didn't have a background in graphic design, but they had a vision for helping SHS get an educational program that would give students marketable skills off the ground.

Checkup on Student Health: Pertussis
Recently, Lane County Public Health has confirmed multiple diagnosis of pertussis (whooping cough) in our community across all age groups, including school age children. Infants and very small children are at the greatest risk for life-threatening complications.
Pertussis has cold-like symptoms followed in one to two weeks by coughing fits that can keep coming for weeks to months. If your child has symptoms of pertussis please keep them home from school and consult with their health care provider.
Springfield Public Schools is committed to limiting the spread of all illnesses at school by encouraging healthy habits and prioritizing appropriate cleaning. Handwashing and good respiratory etiquette are as always helpful in preventing the spread of this infection.
Immunization is the most effective way to prevent the spread of this illness. The Springfield Schools Health Center offers all required vaccines for students, conveniently located on the Springfield High School campus.
For more information on pertussis visit the Oregon Health Authority website.
LTD Offers Free Bus Passes For Students
All K-12 students in public, private, charter, and home schools in Lane County are eligible for a free LTD bus pass. You can either use the Umo Mobility app or a physical tap card to board the bus. Visit your student's school office to get the pass before summer break. Learn more on LTD's website.
