Hello Eagles,
It’s hard to believe we’re already nearing the end of November! With only about six weeks left in the semester, it’s crucial for students to stay on top of their assignments and finish strong. If your student needs help with organization, time management, or catching up on coursework, we’re here to support them. Please don’t hesitate to reach out; we’re happy to work together to ensure a successful end to the semester!

Activities Update
Academic Support
What I Need Time (W.I.N)
Danger of Failure reports were sent out last week, please make sure to connect with your student about academic support options. Students have access to teacher support during W.I.N time Tuesday through Friday. Ask your student about this time. Are they accessing academic support or participating in an activity or club during this time? It's very important that all students schedule their weekly W.I.N time every Monday by 4:00pm. Students have time to do this during their advisory time on Mondays. In addition this, scheduling has been extended to 7:30-9:30 Tuesday -Friday for students to make changes as needed.
Counseling Update
Sources of Strength
Sources of Strength is a group of Peer Leaders at HRVHS that focuses on connecting students to mental health resources and spreading messages of hope and strength to our school community. For the next few weeks we are focusing on gratitude through our Thankfulness Campaign. We are organizing many fun activities, and our first event took place Thursday and Friday of this week. We had a Thank You Card Booth during lunch and students wrote cards to a friend, parent, teacher, or other person for which they are grateful. People that visited our booth learned that expressing gratitude makes other people feel great, but that it's also a protective factor for your own mental health. Focusing on what we are thankful for builds up our own personal strength and sense of happiness. We have 4 more student activities planned as part of our Thankfulness Campaign, so stay tuned!

Athletics Update
We had quite the fall sports season. The stadium, pool and gym were packed and it was great to see all our students, staff and community out supporting the Eagles. Playing in our Northwest Oregon Conference for OSAA sports and within the Mt. Hood League and Central League for Water Polo led to a very challenging season and our athletes and coaches took this challenge head on with great success.
Highlights from the fall include our Girls Water Polo Team winning their third consecutive State Championship! This was their sixth State Championship since 2014, what a remarkable run and to get the threepeat is beyond impressive.
- Girls Water Polo State Champions
- Boys Water Polo 4th Place in State
- Girls Cross Country sent Syl Perrin to State and finished 26th out of 77 5A runners in the OSAA State Championship.
- Boys Cross Country 4th Place in State with Logan King breaking our school record twice and finishing 7th in State.
- Boys Soccer Quarterfinals in OSAA 5A Playoff
- Girls Soccer First Round in OSAA 5A Playoff. Turn around team of the year, from 2 wins in 2023 to 8 wins this year and a playoff birth!
- Football First Round of OSAA 5A Playoff.
We had nearly every team competing in the post season and came home with three trophies, one of these being the STATE CHAMPION Girls Water Polo Team.
Looking ahead to winter we start tryouts for basketball the week of November 18th-22nd and begin play in all our OSAA winter sports the week of December 2nd. If you are interested in joining one of our winter sports, please be sure to update your physical and sign up on Final Forms.
All information and registration information on High School Athletics can be found at our new website linked below.
This winter we will be offering Girls and Boys Basketball, Girls and Boys Wrestling, Girls and Boys Swim Team, Girls and Boys Alpine Ski Team and our club sports are Girls and Boys Nordic Skiing, Girls and Boys Freestyle Ski Team and Girls and Boys Snowboard Team.
The club teams do not require the $150/sport participation fee. You can sign up for those club sports on Final Forms as an activity.
We look forward to watching all our Eagles compete this winter and carry over the momentum from the fall season.
