The 2024 Bexar County FFA Scholarship Program selected 6 students from the Bexar County FFA Chapters to be the recipients of a $20,000 San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Scholarship. Congratulations to Reagan DeCoulaz and Julianna Hover on each receiving this distinguished honor of a $20,000 scholarship!

The AMP hosted the annual Area 7 FFA Convention on May 10-11, 2024. The Area 7 FFA Association consists of 65 FFA Chapters and over 13,500 FFA members.

At the convention, members competed in Speaking Development Events, Talent Contest, and selected the 2024-2025 Area 7 FFA Officer team.

Congratulations to the following James Madison FFA members on their success at the convention:

• 2024-2025 Texas FFA Officer Candidate: Luke Anderson
• 2024-2025 Area 7 FFA Officer At-Large: Haden Carlile
  

• Talent Team: William Phelps - 4th Place
  

• Extemporaneous Public Speaking: Isabella Guerra - 2nd Place and advancing to State

• Junior Prepared Public Speaking: Abigail Arce - 7th Place

• Senior Prepared Public Speaking (Natural Resource): Isabella Guerra - 1st Place and advancing to State

• Senior Prepared Public Speaking (Plant Science): Julia Bradley - 2nd Place

The Saddle Light Center (located at Retama Park) is looking for summer volunteers for their Equine Therapy sessions. Duties include: moving horses to and from paddocks, cleaning stalls and barn areas, grooming and feeding horses, and assisting as a side walker or horse handler during therapy sessions.

No previous experience with horses is required as all necessary training is provided. The next volunteer training date is Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 10:00AM to 1:00PM. See the attached flier for more details.

Parents / guardians can nominate their 2024 graduating Texas FFA senior. One lucky honoree will be awarded a $1000 scholarship, and two honorees will be entered to win a pair of Justin Boots!

The following measures are in place to provide safety to the JMHS campus and AMP Complex:

• NEISD has a closed campus policy. Students cannot leave campus during school hours, including lunchtime, without authorization from a parent/guardian, school administration, and obtaining a pass from the attendance office.
• Parents/guardians needing to make deliveries to AMP students during school hours must bring the items (school supplies, clothing, payments, food, etc.) into the AMP Administration office for delivery to students. We will not be allowing students to go into the parking lot to pick up deliveries.

The 2nd Semester Exam Exemption Request Window for students will open at 7:00AM on Monday, May 13th, and close at 4:30PM on Wednesday, May 16th. For instructions and FAQs about the exam exemption request process, please refer to the attachments below.

Seniors will receive ONE FREE Final Transcript to be sent to one college/university of their choice. Please follow the instructions found in the attached Senior Final Transcript Instruction Sheet to ensure proper submission. Students, parents,, or guardians can complete the online request from May 6, 2024 - June 6, 2024 (4:00PM CST). All requests submitted before will be DENIED and any requested after the designated window will pay the $5.00 fee per transcript.

The Spring 2024 Semester Exam Schedules for seniors and underclassmen have been released and are available below.

This year's AMP Awards Gala will be held on Thursday, May 16th at 6:30pm in the AMP Arena.

The annual gala is our opportunity to celebrate the many accomplishments that happened over this school year in the AMP and James Madison FFA. To name just a few, students will be recognized for their participation in Leadership Development Events, Career Development Events, Speaking Development Events, and Agriscience Fair.

We will also be recognizing our Star Greenhand FFA, Chapter FFA, and Lone Star FFA Degree members along with announcing the winners of our Proficiency and Supervised Agriculture Experience awards.

And money... The James Madison FFA Booster Club will be presenting scholarships to deserving graduating Seniors.

Looking forward to seeing you for the 2024 AMP Awards Gala this Thursday, May 16th at 6:30PM.
