Dear Parents/Guardians,
1. We are one week out from the Georgia Milestones. Please make every effort to ensure that your child is here and on time on those days. Milestones testing is very important.
2. Exceptional Children's week is next week. Please see the flyer below for more information.
3. Swing sets will be delivered next week! We are very excited. Teachers will speak to their classes about swing set safety. Thank you to everyone that participated in our fundraising efforts.
4. Teacher Appreciation Week will be from May 6-10, 2024. Please be on the lookout for your child's teacher favorite things list in next week's Cub Corner.

Monday: Dill chicken, grilled cheese sandwich & soup, hummus basket.

Friday: Tso chicken and rice, calzonettes, veggie nuggets

Media Center
During April, the Beanstack challenge is to read and log 300 minutes! Prizes will be awarded to randomly-selected readers, who achieve their goal, on each grade level. Students will use their GCPS student number and birthday month and date (MMDD) to log into Beanstack. If you have any questions, please contact email Jennifer.Alden@gcpsk12.org.

Creativity
Teachers will be looking for students that exhibit the Creativity trait during April to be recognized as the “Cub of the Month” with a certificate and free ice cream! Please click here for more information.
Kids Heart Challenge
Woodward Mill participated in the 2024 Kids Heart Challenge to provide a fun way of learning heart health, getting active, and becoming heart heroes! This service-learning program taught our students the importance of heart-healthy habits, shared inspirational stories of children who have been touched by heart disease, and helped raise lifesaving funds for the American Heart Association. Woodward Mill was able to raise $3,017.90 this year. Way to go, Cubs!

GCPS 2023-2024 School Calendar
Please click on the link to view the calendar for the 2023-2024 school year.
This approved calendar features seven days of preplanning for teachers, a start date of August 2, 2023, and four digital learning days. The four digital learning days are scheduled throughout the year, with two occurring in 1st semester and two in 2nd semester. The calendar also features a fall break in October, a two-week winter break, a three-day break in February, a week scheduled for spring break, and an end date of May 22nd, 2024.
GCPS 1:1 Initiative
- All GCPS students will have a Chromebook assigned to them for the 2023-2024 school year. Students can also check out a hot spot for internet access based on demonstrated need. Families may contact their schools to discuss options.
- If a GCPS technology resource is assigned to a student and taken home, it is the family's responsibility to monitor the use of the device to ensure that the device is returned in the condition in which it was received.
