STARS FOOTBALL EXTRA POINTS
APRIL EDITION 1 OF 2
TRUE NORTH
Ten years ago, our 2013 class developed the True North mentality. Each point on the 5-pointed star is recognized to represent one belief that our program will be built on. Each point on the star is equal to the one before it. The values of Leadership, Investment, Selflessness, Accountability, and Preparation make up our North Star. In the center of the completed stars lies the T.E.A.M. For the past ten seasons and every moment in between, we have remained consistent in our steadfast belief in these five values. They are our "True North". These beliefs will be our compass in all we do as a program on and off the field. Much like the Northstar in maritime days, we will use our "True North" as the compass we will follow in the journey to the elite. I am proud of these words and what they mean. I have seen them transform lives, including my own. I hope you can share in our "True North" philosophy and discuss these values with your son or daughter as much as possible.

Stars Family -
As we embark on this coming season, it is important to understand that no two years are the same. Each year is unique in it's strengths, weaknesses and the challenges we might face. For 12 years, our value system has been the one consistent aspect of our program. Our True North is the guiding force behind all that we do. Its importance cannot be understated, so I will highlight one value in each of our newsletters for the remainder of the school year. In volume 1 of our April editions, we will be looking at the value of Selflessness.
As we reflect on our journey, I want to emphasize a quality that has been at the heart of our team’s success: selflessness. It’s more than just a word; it’s a mindset that transforms individual efforts into collective achievements.
Here are five reasons why selflessness matters:
Team Unity: When players prioritize the team’s goals over personal recognition, unity flourishes. Selfless acts—whether passing the ball, covering for a teammate, or celebrating their successes—create a bond that propels us forward.
Trust and Reliability: Selfless players build trust. They consistently show up, give their best, and support one another. Trust is the currency of effective teamwork, and it’s forged through selflessness.
Adaptability: In a dynamic game like football, adaptability is key. Selfless team members willingly switch positions, adjust strategies, and sacrifice personal preferences for the greater good. They thrive in changing circumstances.
Leadership by Example: Selflessness sets the standard. When our captains and senior players exhibit selflessness, younger teammates follow suit. They learn that leadership isn’t about personal glory but about lifting others up.
Legacy: The impact of selflessness extends beyond wins and losses. Those who give generously—whether in encouragement, mentorship, or supporting struggling teammates—leave a lasting legacy. Their influence echoes through seasons to come.
As parents, your role is pivotal. Encourage selflessness at home, reinforce the importance of teamwork, and celebrate acts of kindness on and off the field. Together, we’ll continue to build a team that embodies the true spirit of football.
Thank you for entrusting your children to our program. Let’s finish this school year strong, united, and selfless.
