From the Parkway Early Learning Director:
Dear Early Childhood Families,
We are off to a great start and it’s been wonderful to see everyone back in action. I can’t help but smile as I observe our educators working with students and families. I’ve heard singing and laughter, seen so much play, children learning new routines, praise and encouragement, teachers on the floor calmly co-regulating with students and providing lots of nurture and love. It has been wonderful to see students learning and moving outside in fresh air, the excitement of making new friends and having rich, hands-on learning experiences.
If you have not heard of our school mascot, Parker Panda, you will soon discover he is an important part of our school community! Parker Panda is connected to our character education and teaches our students our 4 values. Take care of myself. Take care of others. Take care of my home/school. Take care of my world. We are proud of the strong character education we offer students and our designation as both a State and National School of Character.
Parkway Early Childhood has several exciting events in September. PARKER PANDA'S BIRTHDAY BUBBLE BASH is a fantastic opportunity to have fun with your child and meet other Early Childhood families. We are also excited to offer PLAYGROUND FUN, an evening event and Parkway Parents as Teachers (PAT) has planned a day at the West County SAFETY HOUSE. Sign-up links are below.
Also, PARTNERS IN PLAY (PIP) classes begin this month. PIP offers a variety of classes to develop new skills while having a great time with their caregivers. We offer free play-based screenings to 3-5-year-olds which is a great way to ensure your child is on track with developmental milestones. We hope you explore all Parkway Early Childhood programs available to families. We are here to support your family in these most important foundational years!
Warm Regards,
Dr. Elena Amirault

Tips & Tricks to Stay Informed!
- Most Early Childhood communications are via email. Make sure we have the address checked most often.
- We know your inbox is full! Many parents have found creating a label or flag for Early Childhood emails helpful.
- Bookmark our website.
- Follow our Facebook page "Parkway School District Early Childhood". Facebook is the best platform for PEC to share links to sign up for activities and events. (We also post on Instagram)
Parker, Parker How Does Your Garden Grow?
St. Louis Wild Ones provides grants to non-profit organizations for landscaping projects incorporating native plants in an educational setting. We are excited to share that Parkway Early Childhood West has been awarded a grant for a garden area at the front entrance. This garden will not only enhance our learning environment but also provide a wonderful space for our children to learn about plants. Please signup if you and your child can assist with planting the garden on September 20 from 8:45 am to 9:45 am. Click Here
Welcome to Preschool!
We are thrilled to have your child join our preschool community. The first month is all about helping your child adjust to their new routine, making friends, and exploring the world around them.
Tips for a Smooth Transition
- Consistent Routine: Establishing a consistent drop-off routine can help ease the transition. A quick hug, a confident goodbye, and a reminder that you’ll be back soon can make all the difference.
- Communication: If your child is feeling anxious or has concerns, please let the teacher know. We’re here to support both you and your child during this transition.
- Talk About the Day: At the end of each day, ask your child open-ended questions about their day, such as, “What was the best part of your day?” or “Who did you play with today?
Reminders
- Label Everything: Please ensure all of your child’s belongings are labeled with their name, including backpacks, lunch boxes, and extra clothing.
- Healthy Snacks: We encourage families to pack healthy snacks for snack time. Fruits, veggies, and whole grains are always a good choice!
THANK YOU
...to all caregivers who have had their parent pass ready everyday! We appreciate your help!
