Ellison Families,

Happy October! It’s been wonderful to see our students settling into the new school year. The joy of watching children smile, connect with each other, and strive toward their goals truly warms our hearts.

In September, we started going into the classrooms to teach guidance lessons, which have been a highlight for us. We hope your children have been sharing what they have learned from their school counselors.

Decision of Respect

Northside ISD will hold its annual Decision of Respect Signing Day on Friday, October 4, 2024. On this day, students and staff across the district pledge to demonstrate respect for themselves and others when interacting at school. The Decision of Respect Signing Day serves as a reminder to students and the community that NISD is committed to providing a safe and respectful learning environment.

HELP WANTED...Career Day Volunteers!

Ellison Elementary is seeking volunteers for Career Day, which will take place on Friday, November 1, 2024. We would love for you to speak to our students about your career! If you're interested in participating, please complete the form that was sent home with your child. You can also contact your child's school counselor to volunteer or for more information.

Celebrate RED RIBBON WEEK October 28- November 1

Celebrate Red Ribbon Week with us by participating in the dress up days listed on the flyer.

Attention Military Families

Be on the lookout for this form coming home to sign up for Military Kids Club. If you would like your child to participate, please complete it and return it to the counselors. We meet on the first Monday of the month and you can find the dates on the form.

Be a Leader!

Leaders lead through their words and actions. The poster from Big Life Journal (included below) shows that being a leader encompasses many traits. At Ellison, we offer many opportunities for our students to become leaders, and we encourage students to be leaders, whether in the classroom, on the playground, or in their everyday life.

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL)

Breathe With Me, by Miriam Gates, teaches students how to use five breathing techniques to practice self-regulation. Breathing is a great tool for children to use to help them overcome some of the ordinary and/or most challenging moments in their day. Listen to the book below to learn how using breath can help children feel strong, calm and happy.
