Advent – A Time of Waiting
Advent begins on Sunday!
Now the waiting has begun. We welcome the beginning of another liturgical year, which begins with the First Sunday of Advent on December 3rd. The four weeks of Advent are a time of waiting and preparation for the celebration of Jesus’ birth 2000 years ago. We are also reminded that we are awaiting the Second Coming of Christ at the end of time. At mass, we hear the priest say: “We wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.” And so, let us work diligently and faithfully at preparing our students for Advent and Christmas and for the everlasting life to come.
On Monday morning we will gather as a school community to celebrate the beginning of Advent as a community with a liturgy and then the class Advent wreaths will be placed on the classroom prayer tables.
Blessings,
Mrs. Kleparchuk, Principal
Mrs. Crowston, Vice Principal

How to Handle Teasing
Sometimes children tease each other playfully as a way to try and bond with others or fit in with their peers. But what happens when it goes too far? When teasing between friends occurs often, it can start to become less “funny” and more frustrating and hurtful.
If your child is being teased, make sure to take this opportunity to remind them that all forms of teasing are not OK, even if the intention behind the teasing wasn’t to hurt or offend. Also, they can be reminded to stand up for themselves by using phrases such as “I don’t like when you tease me” or “Friends don’t tease friends.” These simple, yet direct, phrases offer children a way to stand up for themselves and others!
Here is a guide from Big Life Journal on ways to help your child navigate through these difficult situations.

Mission Monday
Every Monday when Mrs. Kleparchuk goes around for her morning annoucement classroom visits the students are presented with a Mission for the week. This week the mission was to "Be The Good" in everything they did this week, we hope that they continue this practice in how they live their lives at home and in the community over the coming weeks as we enter into the Christmas Season. See if next week your child can tell you what the mission is for the week!
