Emerson Update 01/31/25
48 Days Until Spring!!!
EMERSON MIDDLE SCHOOL MISSION
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE 01/31/25
Dear Emerson Families,
We made it through a full week! It feels like it's been several weeks since we've had a full five-day stretch, and we certainly made the most of it. It was a busy week, filled with learning, preparation, and some exciting extracurricular activities.
I want to extend a huge, good luck to all of our talented students who are competing this weekend in the MSBOA Middle School Solo and Ensemble Festival. We know how much time and effort you've all poured into practicing, and we are incredibly proud of your dedication. We're confident that your hard work will shine through tomorrow, and we can't wait to hear about your performances.
We're also bursting with pride for our students' creativity and enthusiasm this week as they transformed our hallways and common spaces in preparation for next week's Middle School Activity Night. The themed decorations are fantastic, and it's clear how much effort went into making our school look festive and fun. We especially appreciate how respectful the entire student body has been of the decorations. It’s wonderful to see such school spirit and collaboration. We're looking forward to a fantastic Activity Night!
It's hard to believe that January has already flown by, and we're heading into week 4 of the semester next week. Time is certainly moving quickly! As we move further into the semester, we want to encourage you to continue partnering with us in supporting your student's academic success. Please remind them to stay on top of their assignments, utilize their resources, and reach out to their teachers if they need any assistance. Regularly checking Student Connect is a great way to stay up-to-date on assignments, assessments, and overall progress. Open communication between home and school is essential, and we appreciate your involvement in your child's education. Together, we can ensure a successful and rewarding semester for all of our students.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend!
With Eagle Pride,
Bruce Rivera

8th to 9th Grade Scheduling
Dear 8th Grade Families,
This is an exciting time for our 8th graders as they prepare for their transition to high school! As you know, the Franklin High School counselors visited our campus on Monday and Tuesday to discuss this transition and what students can expect in 9th grade.
Next steps in this process will be the scheduling of classes for the upcoming school year. This scheduling will take place during the week of February 10th in your student's social studies class.
To help guide and assist you and your student in the course selection process, we've attached a couple of helpful documents to this email.
Please take some time to review these together.
1. Selecting HS Classes January 2025
2. Guidance for 9th Grade Student Scheduling
3. EMS 9th Grade Course Selection Sheet
Your student's classroom teachers and school counselors are also excellent resources and are available to answer any questions your student may have. Please don't hesitate to reach out to them.
We look forward to supporting our 8th graders through this exciting transition!

Student Handbook and Code of Conduct
Emerson Student Handbook & Code of Conduct
- This has been updated for the 2024-20254 school year.
- It can be accessed HERE.
- Please partner with us by reminding students that cell phones and electronics should be "AWAY FOR THE DAY"!
- All students must keep bags and backpacks in their lockers.

A few key things to note:
The Livonia Parent Advisory Committee (LPAC) seeks parent representation from each Livonia Special Education Program. Parent representative volunteers have a child/children with a disability(ies). The LPAC also provides advisory input on matters regarding improvement of Special Education services within our school district.
Our Facebook page shares information of interest to our families and students.
Here, you will find electronic flyers for programs and events geared toward kids!
We hope that you enjoy the many offerings from around our great community!
If you have a program that you'd like to advertise, please email your flyer to Stacy Jenkins at sjenkins3@livoniapublicschools.org for approval. We follow a set of guidelines for approval and are only able to accept flyers for non-profit organizations that benefit our local children.
