META Awards Grant to Support Frontier Schools’ STEM Competitors
META, the company behind Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and WhatsApp, continues its commitment to education through its Data Center Community Action Grants program. Frontier Schools is proud to be a recent recipient of this generous grant, which will help fund student participation in regional and national STEM competitions.
This spring, a portion of the grant will support students traveling to the World VEX IQ Competition, covering registration fees and travel expenses. Dr. Geyik, STEM Coordinator, emphasized the importance of such investments, stating, “These growing corporate partnerships are essential in providing our students with opportunities to compete at the national level, showcase their creativity, and challenge themselves alongside some of the best STEM programs in the country.”
With META’s support, Frontier Schools continues to expand opportunities for students to excel in STEM, preparing them for future success in an increasingly technology-driven world.

NFEF Spotlight!
The New Frontier Educational Foundation exists to bridge the gap between STEM-based
education and career development to help Frontier students transform their passions into
professions and life-long learning – helping to make Kansas City a better place to live.
Last year, we officially launched our new Friends of Frontier student success program to
extend, enhance and enrich the educational benefits of Frontier Schools by adding real world
learning and life-skill building opportunities.
We have identified five different, but related definitions of “Friend”:
- Financial Contributions
- Volunteering/Mentoring
- Corporate Partnerships
- Academic/For- & Non-Profit Alliances
- Advisory Board/Alumni Support
As we recognize April as Financial Literacy Month, we look back at our “Money-Wise” event
last spring, which brought corporate, academic and civic volunteers to the school to teach
Frontier students about financial literacy.
Special thanks to our “friends” from SparkWheel, Bayer Corp., Corona Norco Unified School
District, Evergy, Jackson-Hewitt, Lawrence School District, Metropolitan Community College,
Michael Beamon, Inc., Oracle, UMKC, University of Kansas Health Systems, Arvest Bank and
Sagura Marketing.

Home Visits
Teachers and school staff have visited 812 students in 440 homes since the start of the 2024-25 school year. Home visits are paramount in bridging cultural gaps that might exist. These visits also provide opportunities for staff to understand their students better by visiting them in their home environments.
