Congratulations to Our Child Nutrition Program!
Did you know that our Child Nutrition Program (CNP) staff works hard to ensure our students have balanced and healthy breakfasts and lunches daily at Pizitz? Feeding 1,133 middle schoolers is no small feet! They do an incredible job. Last week, they earned a 100 on their health department rating. Thank you, ladies, we are grateful for ALL you do to keep our students and staff well-fed at Pizitz!

An Update from French Class
In April, our eighth grade French students took part in Le Grand Concours, otherwise known as The National French Contest, sponsored and administered by the American Association of Teachers of French. Over 11,000 students nationally took part in the contest at Level I, and our students continued a Pizitz tradition of excellence. In spite of significant technical difficulties on the day of the contest, thirty of our students were recognized for their scores. Congratulations to these students!
Gold Medals (scores as good as/better than 95% of students nationally): Alex Seymour (ranked 3rd nationally); Abigail Li (ranked 5th nationally), and Jack Cowan (ranked 6th nationally)
Silver Medals (scores as good as/better than 85% of students nationally): Sophia Chen (ranked 6th in Alabama), Wilkes DeArman (ranked 7th in Alabama), Evelyn Plant (ranked 7th in Alabama), Avery Allen (ranked 10th in Alabama), Jacob Cesnick (ranked 10th in Alabama), and Max Martinez
Bronze Medals (scores as good as/better than 75% of students nationally): Alice Harlan, Evelyn Cespedes, Ella Kate Miller, Catherine Walters, Emery Whitehurst, Riley Hoar, Andrew Everett, Reese Mallette, and Claire DeArman

It's Almost Time for Pirates' Day!
Pirates' Day is Wednesday, May 22. This is a day full of activities to celebrate all things great about being a Pirate. We will have various rides, food trucks, a DJ, a talent show, and more!
Pirates' Day Wristbands are $25. They cover all Pirates' Day food/activities except for the Whiffle Ball Tournament (See Coach McKenzie in P.E. for Whiffle Ball information).
- Wristband orders will be taken May 13-17 (that's this week!)
- 6th Graders will place their order with their English Teacher.
- 7th & 8th Graders will place their order in the cafeteria during their lunch session.
- Make checks payable to Pizitz and include a phone number on your check.
- Wristbands will be delivered to students during their Academic Strategies class on Pirates' Day.
Pirates' Day activities include: Badminton, Ballistic Swings, Basketball 3 on 3, Beach Volleyball, Bean Bag Toss, Bingo, Blongo Ball, Cake Walk, Corn Hole, DJ Booth, Double High Striker Karaoke Kart, Racing Leaps N Bounds, Pedestal Joust, Pente, Pickleball, Ping Pong, Pirates of the Caribbean Moonwalk, Putt Putt, Reckless Rock N Roll Spike Ball, Sports Zone 3-n-1, Talent Show, Tattoos, Tic Tac Throw, Whiffle Ball, Whirly Bird Wrecking Ball
Pirates' Day Food & Drink include: Candy Guess, Cotton Candy, PowerAid, Water, Sodas, Sno Cones (All above options are unlimited with a Wristband), Unless U Ice Cream (additional $5 cash)
Pirates' Day Lunch Option: Box Lunch payable from student's lunch account. Can be used along with one of the other Lunch options (Lunch Combo or Food Truck).

- Food Truck orders must be placed with your Wristband order from May 13-17. No late food truck orders will be accepted.
Yearbooks!
Yearbooks have arrived, and we will be handing them out on Monday, May 20th. We have a LIMITED number of extra books available for sale. Students can bring $60 cash or a check made out to Pizitz to Mrs. Wade in room A101. Students can check with their Academic Strategies teacher to see if they have pre-ordered a book, or students can email Mrs. Wade with any questions (wadelb@vhcs.us).
Pizitz Cross Country
CALLING ALL DISTANCE RUNNERS! Any current 6th or 7th graders interested in 2024 Pizitz Cross Country Team should join the Google Classroom (Code: lvqdguz) for more information!
The athlete interest meeting will be THIS Wednesday the 15th and Thursday the 16th in the library 8th period. Check in with your 8th period then come to the library. Your athlete only needs to come to one. Coach Campbell will go over what is expected and give the forms for Dragonfly.
If your athlete is interested at all please join the Google Classroom. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Campbell at campbellc@vhcs.us, ask me in the hallway or swing by C114 in between classes! We look forward to the next XC season!!
Attention: 8th Grade Students & Parents!
8th Graders and 8th Grade Parents: Do you have any pictures of you and your friends over the years at Pizitz? Email them to Ms. Lushington at lushingtonhm@vhcs.us so we can showcase them at the 8th Grade Banquet in May! Mark your calendars now for the evening of May 17 to celebrate your time at Pizitz with your 8th grade friends and teachers.
Summer Reading Program at the Library In the Forest
When you’re planning your free time this summer, don’t forget about the Library in the Forest’s Summer Reading Program! Starting May 18, you can sign up and enter to win weekly prizes including our grand prize, an Apple Watch. To register online, visit www.vestavialibrary.org/teens.
Library Books
Students: We still have over 100 books that are overdue. If you receive an overdue notice, please check your classes, locker, home, car, etc. in order to locate these missing books.
VHHS Bowling Tryouts
VHHS Bowling Tryouts will be held on May 22nd & May 23rd from
3pm-4:30pm at Vestavia Bowl. Be sure to have your DragonFly 2023-24 completed (including current physical). Contact Coach Broome with questions (broomeda@vhcs.us).
VHHS Baseball Tryouts for the 2024-2025 School Year
Baseball tryouts are for all upcoming 8th and 9th Graders plus any 10th-12th Graders who would like to try out that are currently NOT on the team.
