Veterans Day
The Iron Mountain Public Schools downtown campus commemorated Veterans Day with a public ceremony in the Auditorium Monday afternoon. The walls were covered in photos of veteran family members and friends of students and staff.
Thank you to Dan Trulock, Sam Ethington, and Tom Hagberg of the American Legion Post #50 for attending as Color Guard.
Thank you to our very own Mr. Andy Mendini, Sergeant First Class, for his service to our country and for speaking at the ceremony.
Well done, Band and Choir! Special shoutout to senior Juliana Tapio, who played TAPS beautifully.
North Elementary School commemorated Veterans Day Monday with a special program for district families and the public. Thank you to the American Legion Post #50 for the Posting of the Colors and for guest speaker, Lieutenant Colonel John VanDusen for sharing with our students, staff, and audience about what it takes to be a great American.
Student speakers, Tyler Richey, Augustinno Saldana, and Presley Nowak shared their experiences with their families in the military and their thoughts on Veterans Day. Mr. Williams lead the school in two beautiful patriotic songs. Juliana Tapio of IMHS closed the ceremony with the playing of TAPS. Great job to everyone and thank you to all that attended.
Thank you to those who have served for your service from the staff and students at Iron Mountain Public Schools.
Recycling Program begun at North Elementary School
The fourth grade, lead by Mrs. Harris, at North Elementary School has begun a recycling program hand in hand with TRICO Opportunities! Mrs. Harris' end goal is for North Elementary School to receive Green School Certification!
Thursday, fourth grade students from Mrs. Harris' class read to Miss Gonzales' and Mrs. Pirkola's classrooms and gave a presentation on recycling and encouraged their fellow students to participate.
At the end of the presentation, each classroom was presented with their very own recycling box decorated by the fourth grade students!

Safe Routes to School Survey
Hello Mountaineer families!
We are in the beginning steps of applying for a Safe Routes for School grant, which would help in funding much needed improvements for our sidewalks and streets surrounding our campus. But we need your help. This week, our students grades 3-12 will be anonymously surveyed on their habits with walking/biking to school. Our families/parents/guardians are asked to also participate in an anonymous survey. Parents/guardians- we would greatly appreciate your time by answering questions in the quick survey links provided below:
North Elementary (EK-4): https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/northelemparent
East Elementary (5-6): https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/eastelemparent
Central Middle School (7-8): https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/centralmiddleparent
Iron Mountain High School (9-12): https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ironmountainhighparent
Thank you in advance for your participation and help in making this grant a success!
Congratulations to the 5-12th Grade Student of the Week, Devon Nattiel-Loar!
Devon Nattiel-Loar, seventh grade, is the son of Bionca Nattiel and Shaun Rozek, and Terrell Nattiel and Amy Nattiel. Devon has been a standout seventh grader. His classroom etiquette is exemplary. He is well liked and respected by his fellow classmates, and shown to be a natural leader. Devon has shown he is setting his future up right with a firm foundation as he takes further steps towards control of his own personal independence. Devon participates in basketball, Mountaineer Mindset, and Quiz bowl, and shines in all endeavors through hard work and commitment. There is no doubt that Devon will be someone to look up to as he continues his future in Iron Mountain.
