WHAT'S UP AT WMS?
Civic Learning Panel
On Tuesday, March 26th, our 8th grade Civics teachers, Ms. Shock and Ms. Kline, hosted a Civics Learning Panel. Local leaders came to tell our 8th graders about their roles, how they have a positive impact on our community, and responded to students’ questions.
Thank you to all the panelists who were able to join us: Kendry Foley, School Committee Chair; Emily Izzo, City Councilor; Steve Owens, State Representative; John Lawn, State Representative; Officer Margaryan (Princess Anna), WMS School Resource Officer; and Captain Dan Unsworth, Watertown Police Department. We were empowered by your strong message that we don't have to be of voting age to make a difference in our community!
Ms. Shock and Ms. Kline

IDEAS CONFERENCE
Thanks to everyone who helped support our trip to Westwood last Friday for the middle school IDEAS Conference for student DEIB leadership! The students did an amazing job and participated in some really interesting discussions about identity and privilege. I would love to make this an annual event.

PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS
ATTENDANCE INCENTIVE
Don't forget about our exciting Attendance Incentive Program aimed at encouraging consistent attendance and participation among our students! The program is designed to incentive students who consistently attend school on time and actively engage in their learning journey.
Here's how it works:
Each Monday, we will hold a special raffle drawing, with one winner per grade level with consistent attendance from the week prior. These students will have the chance to win a delightful gift card to Dunkin’ or Starbucks, a perfect treat for a well-deserved break or a delicious snack!
Consistent attendance is crucial for academic success, and we believe that acknowledging and celebrating this commitment is essential. By participating in our Attendance Incentive Program, students not only have the opportunity to win fantastic prizes but also cultivate habits that will serve them well in their academic and personal lives.
Thank you for your continued support in promoting a culture of attendance and engagement at our school. If you have any questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
DIVERSITY NIGHT
We are proud to celebrate our diverse community with our second annual Diversity Night on May 16th! This evening will be a showcase of the many different cultures, traditions, identities, and backgrounds that make our school such a unique and wonderful place. We believe that diversity is a strength and that everyone has something valuable to contribute to our shared human experience. Clubs, student groups, families, and individuals are all encouraged to sign up to host a table, an experience, or a learning event. Click here for more information and to sign up.
