We are looking for two guardians who would love to volunteer to help us out by manning our two crosswalks before and after school. Duties would include:

*using stop sign to stop traffic for safe crossing

*have families wait until traffic stops for safe crossing

The times would be from 8:50-9:00 & 3:45-4:00. If you are interested, please email Mrs. Lenz at jena.lenz@uticak12.org and she will take the first two interested.

To ensure safety of all students, teachers are going to be checking IDs of guardians who are picking students up until teachers get to know and are able to recognize all guardians. Adults who are picking students up MUST be listed on Powerschool. If there are any changes in your student's pick up schedule, please let the classroom teacher know ASAP. If it is near the end of the day, please call the office so we can be sure that the teacher is made aware of the change.

Before the Bus Arrives

• Your child should arrive at the bus stop at least five minutes before the bus arrives.
• Please wait with your child at the bus stop during the am. In the pm parents of younger students especially K-3) should also be waiting for the child at the bus stop.

Getting On and Off Safely

• When the school bus arrives, your child should wait until the bus comes to a complete stop, the door opens, and the driver says it’s okay to get on or off. Your child should use the handrails to avoid falling.

Always Use Caution Around the Bus

• Your child should never walk behind a school bus. If your child must cross the street in front of the bus, tell them to walk on a sidewalk or along the side of the street to a place at least ten feet — five giant steps — in front of the bus before crossing. Your child should also make eye contact with the bus driver before crossing to make sure the driver can see that they’re crossing to avoid the danger zone.

NO PHONES, COMPUTERS, or IPADS should be used on the bus.

NO Food or Candy on the busses.

Please note that in order to volunteer at Beacon Tree, a Volunteer Criminal History Check Form will need to be completed and submitted EVERY YEAR.

On the day of absence, parent/guardian are asked to report an absence before the school day begins. Calls may be made 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will be received by an answering machine during non-school hours at 586-797-7399. Absences may also be reported by email at officebeacontree@uticak12.org. Please do not call the main line, use the absence line or report by email. Documentation or other verification may be required to establish an excused absence. Please review the Board Policy 5115 below for more information regarding student attendance.

For those that are new to our school, we have grade level t-shirts and designate a color to each class. Your assigned color will follow your child through to 5th grade so you don’t have to buy a new shirt every year. (Only when your kid rudely grows or their closet eats their shirt.) 😉 6th Grade designs their own shirts for their final year at Beacon Tree.

We’re trying something new and taking our first BTV meeting of the year on the road! Please join us on Thursday, September 12 at 7:00PM at Black Label Tavern. We have a room reserved just for us and will be providing appetizers, too!

We will present the ‘24-‘25 budget for approval, review our proposed calendar of events for the year, discuss volunteer opportunities and open chairperson positions, and then open the floor for any new ideas or thoughts on ways to make this year extra special for our children.

After the meeting is over, you are more than welcome to stay and hang out! Perhaps open a tab for an adult beverage or two. Or simply stay until you know the coast is clear to not be on bedtime duty at home that night. 😉

Looking for ways to be a part of the BTV this school year? We’d love to have you! Keep an eye on your child’s backpack for an interest form coming home. You can fill it out and indicate your availability and interests for our various events this year. Please send back to school and teachers will drop off in our mailbox.

As the district and school have already communicated, all volunteers MUST submit a background check form every school year. We are sending home a copy if you haven’t submitted one yet. Please send back to the school to the office for processing.

We will be kicking off our Fun Run next Friday, 9/13 and fundraise leading up to the big day on Friday, September 27. Stay tuned next week for the full scoop coming home on flyers as well as postings on our FB page.
