Happy Homecoming!
We had a blast celebrating Homecoming with our Marcus community. This year's theme was "Lights, Camera, Action!" and staff and students dressed up accordingly. The MHS feeder pattern participated in various events throughout the week including a carnival, pep rally and of course Friday's Homecoming game.
Elementary, middle and high school students from around the Marcus community participated in Wednesday's carnival and community pep rally.
Congratulations to Patton Morgan and Molly Kemery, our 2023 Homecoming King and Queen!

Marcus Students Put Love Into Lovepacs
Marcus students are putting some love into Lovepacs this year. Lovepacs is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was created in order to provide meals to students who would otherwise go hungry during school holidays. Through coordination with local schools and its volunteers, Lovepacs engages communities to feed children in need. Amanda Vara's students worked together to decorate boxes this year in preparation for the holiday season. READ MORE

More languages are planned to be added in order to better serve the district’s roughly 9,000 emerging bilingual or ESL students. Recognize SomeONE
The Recognize SomeONE submissions are pouring in, and we're sharing a few for teachers in the Marauder community. As a reminder, you can visit LISD.net/Recognize any time to submit your own encouragement for LISD staff.
- Kelsey Dierke, Marcus High School | "Coach Dierke is such a blessing in the lives of the volleyball girls that she coaches. She not only teaches them to play and love the game but also pours kindness, respect, and joy into each of her players. They are better players and people for being taught by her. Thank you for all that you do, Coach Dierke. You are a true blessing!"
- Ermalinda Gonzalez, Downing Middle School | "I would like to recognize Mrs. Gonzales. She was so instrumental in building my son’s confidence in ELAR. She helped him believe in himself. She spoke so much truth over him! Thank you from the very bottom of my heart!"
- Misty Barr, Heritage Elementary School | "Ms. Barr has been so kind with my son. He has struggled a bit with morning drop-off and she never hesitates to swoop in and comfort him. He adores her and talks about her often. My husband and I are very appreciative of her support, as our son transitions to "big boy" school."
