CVU Celebrations
May 3, 2024
Dear CVU Community: As I shared with the faculty and staff earlier this week, I am honored to serve CVSD as Interim Superintendent during a time that will continue to challenge us to think, collaborate, and communicate in new ways. Of course, it is also hard to imagine not being at CVU daily. With the love I feel for my family and friends, nothing has brought greater meaning in my life than working with you, our students, and educators to achieve the purpose of sustaining this inspirational community. Thank you.
Okay. Enough of that! Let's get back to business. Families and Caregivers, please be on the look out for an invitation from your student's advisor for the Senior Exit Experience 2024. We've got some graduates to celebrate in just over one month!

Student Council Corner
Hello CVU, it’s Ariel! This week Student Council held interviews for new members looking to join one of our committees as student representatives. Thanks so much to everyone who showed interest, we were so impressed with all of you! Being a committee member is a great way to advocate for fellow students directly to adults in the building. As the school year comes to an end, Student Council is wrapping up with next week’s Educator Appreciation Week, and the traditional Senior Sunset. We also had a Cultural Awareness Day this Thursday, where foods from various cultures were served in the café. Look out for more info on next year’s student Presidential Elections! Good luck to everyone taking AP exams in the coming weeks, and to all our spring sports teams as the season picks up. Roll Hawks!!
Student Celebrations
Our Unified Team unified our community in memory of Sarah Francisco on Thursday. Thanks to our musicians, art department, special services, and community members who made this a fun and poignant tribute. Also, a special shoutout to Ezra for a brilliant three at the end of the game! There will be a Celebration of Life for Sarah Francisco on Sunday, June 2, at 11:00 am at CVU.
Our intrepid travelers crossed time and space (4,000 miles) to discover one of the original Redhawks in a museum in Italy!

From SEEDS: It's that time of year again...the SEEDS Annual Plant Sale! Thanks to the generosity of many, the SEEDS Plant sale has been the most successful of all our fundraisers for the past four years and we hope it will be again this year. We have 4" pots of basil, cosmos, marigolds, zinnias, larkspur and mini sunflowers for $5 each or 3 for $12. They will be available during 3rd block in the Cafe starting Monday and they are looking VERY healthy. We accept cash, check or Venmo. We have 200 total so get yours while supplies last!
Seven CVU members and one alum went to shoot in a regional Scholastic Clay Target Club competition in Burlington, Massachusetts over vacation. Ethan Plante, Cassidy Fleming (alum) and Nathan Hanson all scored a 76 which was good enough for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for the visitors group! Also competing were Gabe Merrill, Alden Looft, Robert Nesbit and Michael Denis. All had a great day and were well coached by Art Greenbaum and Brent Allaire.

Faculty/Staff Celebrations
Next week is CVSD's Educator Appreciation Week to celebrate the many people who shape our special community. We will honor our cafe staff, teachers, campus supervisors, case managers, paraprofessionals, admin assistants, teachers, school counselors, social workers, SAPs, to name just a few!!! If you feel inspired, please send a word of gratitude to an educator who is important in your life!
Kathy Aube and Marilyn Mashia (joined by Bambi Loftus) take a short break on a very hot day just over one year ago. I took the picture because I had never seen them rest...once. Kathy announced last week that she's ready for a little more vacation in a semi-retirement and Marilyn will be starting a new role in CVSD. Thankfully, we have a few more weeks with them, so make sure to share your appreciation!
Happy School Lunch Hero Day!
