1. Facilities Update: A new geothermal system will be installed, providing better heating and long-term cost savings for the school.
2. World of Work Program: This initiative offers older students at KSB the chance to work at local businesses or within the school, gaining valuable experience.
3. Kentucky Center for Safe Schools: An update on school safety will be provided in February 2025, focusing on ongoing efforts to ensure a safe learning environment.
4. Upcoming Meeting: On February 20th, 2025, we will be joined by representatives from the Kentucky School for the Deaf. I encourage all parents to attend if possible.
We look forward to your continued support and involvement.

5 Mental Health Reminders for December
- The winter blues are real. Try your best to stick to a routine, get some movement, and seek out the sun when you can.
If this season doesn’t feel cheery and twinkly for you, that’s okay. You’re not alone.
Productivity might look different for you during winter months, and that’s alright. Give yourself permission for a break.
Between cold weather and holiday stress, December can feel overwhelming. There’s no shame in reaching out for support.
Give yourself grace.
Hello Folks,
Welcome to the 15th edition of Dorm Happenings here in the very holiday festive season of Christmas. We have decorations in the dorm lobby and the recreation gym thanks to the work and volunteer coordination from Ms. Destiny and Mr. Larry. We are jumping into the month of December with much excitement as we welcomed our dorm students back on Sunday with meals in the dorm and activity time in the recreation center. On Monday our elementary students made Christmas cookies in the dorm and discussed writing letters to Santa. The middle school and high school students decided it was too cold, and windy for a campfire session by the gazebo and instead made plans for Christmas shopping and time in the recreation gym playing pool, pop a shot, shuffleboard and riding bikes in the Rec. gym.
On Tuesday Mr. Larry with the help of 3 Santas Elves, Ms. Peggy Watts, Sue Carmouche, And Ms. Debbie Combs Watts worked on more decorations in the recreation gym and the bowling alley booths. Later in the evening the girls went on a shopping spree at Target with Ms. Katy, Mr. Larry, Ms. Zanetta and Mr. Bruce and picked out there 3 items they wanted for Christmas. This was a shopping spree that allowed them to put down 3 items they wanted all for less than $25.00 or a total of 3 items for no more than $25.00 so the people who draw their names will know what they want, and what they like. The elementary students also made reindeer food to take home and feed to the reindeer on Christmas Eve.
On Wednesday we had scouts in the dorm with Mr. Ottis and Mr. Larry and they conducted a scout meeting and talked about the advancement program in scouts and the things that each level required. The scout group had some good discussion and interest in the rankings and activities to accomplish each rank. We also made more reindeer food and bagged it up to get ready to take home for the holidays.
On Thursday night the elementary students were busy in the recreation gym assembling Knexs and constructing towers and windmills along with putting decorations on the Christmas tree. Also, the boys had their turn to go shopping at Target to pick out their gifts and fill out their cards for items they want for the Christmas gift exchange later on in the month. Mr. Larry, and Mr. Bruce went with them to assist them in completing their index cards with desired gifts. After the trip to Target, we took the boys for a late-night snack at McDonalds. It has been a fun but cold week here on the KSB campus for the Howser dorm students, but we have braved the elements and had some fun learning, life skills in shopping and operating on a budget all while have some fun and laughter along the way.
Reminder that next week with be a middle school short course week. We leave you with this quote at the end of the first week in December.
"Is a month of lights, snow, coziness, and feasts; time to make amends and tie up loose ends; finish what you started and make your wishes come true." Author Unknown.
Until Next Time.
