NFV Update
December 7, 2021
Dear TigerHawk Family,
The 2021-2022 school year is well underway. Moving into December, our school has continued to strive to provide an excellent education, services, and opportunities to our students. Each year I set several personal goals for myself and in turn our district. This year's goals center around student achievement, conditions for learning at our school, and continuing to move toward financial stability for our district.
As you may remember NFV received additional state funding for several years after the merger of Valley and North Fayette. This extra funding is a great way to allow newly merged districts to get started. It does create an issue when this additional funding expires. We are in the first year at NFV without these supplemental funds.
This year, we have been able to reduce our spending through early retirements and selective rehiring for those positions. This was a great start that has NFV on track to work within the state allotted funding. There is more work to do. We will continue to make efforts towards additional efficiencies and cost-effective practices, all while keeping the quality our community has come to expect from NFV.
On a fun note, I encourage you to visit our district website and check out the historic information shared on our touchscreen. Folks have found it particularly enjoyable to look at the yearbooks from previous years. This can be found on our district website, under the District tab, Yearbooks section.
Thank you!
Joe Griffith
Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP)
District results from the 20-21 school year indicate that NFV scored above the state average in most of the grade levels in English Language Arts, Math and Science! The ISASP is administered online to students in grades 4-11 and with paper/pencil to grade 3 in both English Language Arts and Mathematics. The Science assessment is administered in only 5th, 8th, and 10th grades. NFV is already starting to prepare for this year’s ISASP testing which will occur in March and April.
Parents of 4th-12th Graders:
Iowa’s Department of Education has recently introduced the ISASP Parent Portal. The portal provides secure online access to individual student ISASP results. Rather than printing and sending home paper copies of ISASP reports, parents will login to the ISASP Parent Portal to view their student’s Spring 2021 ISASP report.
