Message from Mrs. Sheppard
Happy Friday!
What an awesome Halloween we had this year! The weather was AMAZING and so was our parade!! We hope we can do that EVERY year because it was so nice to be outside and also nice for the families and friends to be able to spread out and not be so crowded inside the building. I guess we will just have to hope for great weather every year so we can continue this method of showing off our costumes. We really had so much fun this year. I love this school community and how everyone came out to see our staff and students! We always have so much fun here at Graham!!!
Please remember that there is NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, November 5th due to Election Day. Staff has Professional Development this day as well. We do have a very important PROPOSAL on the ballot for the Wayne County Enhancement Millage. I hope you will continue to support our schools! There is some information in my letter below if you want to read more about it. This millage passed several years ago so this is the renewal of it. This will help give us funds to upgrade our technology and support safety in the buildings.
This week in the Positivity Project we will be discusing the character strength of Creativity. Creativity means coming up with new and original ways to think about and do things. Please read the letter and talk about this trait with your family during the week to reinforce what we are talking about in school.
Please feel free to email me with questions you might have and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Have a wonderful weekend!

NEW ONLINE APPLICATION FOR BACKGROUND CHECKS!!
IMPORTANT!
Please read this message from Acting Superintendent Jennifer Curry with information regarding the Wayne County Enhancement Millage that will be on the November 5 ballot.
PBIS Fundraiser 💓🖤🤍
The Staff at Graham are holding a Spirit Wear Fundraiser to raise money to support our PBIS program. Once a month, our school store goes around and students are able to purchase prizes with their posivtive dojo points. They receive points throughout the month for being Safe, Kind, Respectful and Resonsible. Money earned from this fundraiser will be used to purchase prizes for this store. We want to be able to give our students some really cool items!
Fundraiser Info
Students who have not registered yet, can do so at any time. They just have to have six email addresses with their account to be able to get a book buddy. So far we have earned over $300!!! Please reach out to me if you have any questions!
Please send your child to school with a coat!
It is that time of year again! Students will need to have a coat to go outside for recess. We go out EVERY DAY unless it is below 20 degrees. Please be sure that they have something to keep them warm. If you need a coat for your child, please let the office, or a staff member know so we can work on getting one for your child. Thank you!
Can you please help us???
Room Parent: We are still looking for several parents to take on the ROOM PARENT role. You would be in charge of helping get volunteers for classroom parties, things for the classroom that the teacher might need, etc. Please let your child's teacher or Mrs. Sheppard know if you are interested on this!
We are missing parents for the following teachers:
Ms. Hanlon
Ms. Held
Ms. Taylor
Ms. Williams
Ms. Nordeen
Ms. Beaty
Ms. Widrig
Ms. Gamble
Ms. Green
Mr. Owenby
Ms. Closser
Ms. Clemons
Ms. Vandoorne
As you can see, we are missing SEVERAL parents to be a room parent in these classrooms. The job is not too tough. It would just be helping the teacher organize sign ups for class parties, the Spring Carnival Basket, and maybe some other small things. Please reach out to me if you would like to take on this volunteer job.
Chronic Absenteeism
If a student misses at least 10% of school days in a year, INCLUDING excused or unexcused absences, they are considered chronically absent. In a regular school year of 180 days, that is about 18 days of absences. Chronic absenteeism can hinder the development of critcal skills, reduce academic success, and creating lasting challenges throughout a student's life!!
11/5 Election Day/NO SCHOOL
11/7 Student of the Month Assembly (INVITATION ONLY!!!)

There are some days when the menu could possibly change due to food items not being available. We will let the students know if there are changes as soon as we find out.
