Points from the Principal
As we approach the end of October, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible progress our school community has made this month. From guest speakers to engaging classroom discussions, it’s been a vibrant time filled with creativity and collaboration. I encourage everyone to continue fostering this sense of community and support as we head into November. Remember, each one of you contributes to the unique fabric of our school, and together, we can achieve great things. Thank you for your hard work and dedication!
Words from a Cop
I hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween. I understand it has passed, but as I was writing this blurb, we still had a few days until trick or treating. In the spirit of Halloween this week my topic is fear.
Fear is a control tactic. The more someone installs it into you, the more power they have over you. Threatening language and threats of pain are the most common. However, there are numerous fears someone can use for control. Fear should not exist in our schools, but the harsh reality is there is more fear today than ever. Do not fall victim to fear. Take a break from watching the horrible stories on the news, and social media. The less you hear about it, the less worried you will be. Fear does not control you; you control you. Don’t give it the attention it craves. Live your life, don’t live in fear.
Stay safe, stay vigilant
Remember to set your clocks back on Saturday! We gain an hour.
Dress Code Reminder
November 1st marked the change to our Dress Code outlined by our Handbook.

Notes from the Nurse.....
Already this autumn season, we are seeing an increase in pneumonia cases.
Pneumonia is a respiratory infection in which the air sacs in the lungs become inflamed and filled with fluid or pus, making it difficult and painful to breathe. It can be caused by a bacteria, virus, or fungus. Pneumonia is often the consequence of a COVID or influenza infection. It is spread through respiratory droplets in the air or from touching contaminated services and then touching our faces (nose, mouth, eyes), similar to the way other respiratory infections are spread. Symptoms include fever, dry cough, headaches, body aches and weakness. However, instead of feeling better within a few days, symptoms worsen and may include chest pain, shortness of breath, a rapid heart rate, shaking/chills and/or a blueish tint to the lips and nailbeds. Pneumonia can be diagnosed per chest xray, sputum sample or blood cultures. Treatment includes antibiotics (for pneumonia caused by bacteria), bronchodilators (to help ease breathing), fluids and LOTS OF REST!! A person with pneumonia may remain contagious for up to 48 hours after starting an antibiotic and fever has stopped, and it may take from one week to one month before full recovery. Untreated pneumonia can lead to a lung abscess, sepsis and ultimately respiratory failure. Some of the infections that can lead to pneumonia can be prevented with vaccines. These include the flu vaccine, the pneumococcal vaccines, and the COVID vaccine. Meticulous hand washing, cough etiquette and immunizations are the best public health measures we can take to keep ourselves and those around us healthy this season!
