Levelland ISD's
October 30th, 2023
Hello Levelland Lobos.
We are moving into the month of November and the weather finally feels like fall. This month we remind ourselves to be thankful for the many blessings in our lives.
Thank you all for working to make Levelland ISD great. This doesn't happen by chance and this week's newsletter is a testament to just how amazing you are. You are a blessing to our students, this district, and our community.
Have a wonderful week.
Go Lobos!

Around LISD......
Bilingual Parent Meeting!
Levelland ISD #ExpectsExcellence and hosted a great Bi-Lingual meeting this evening! These meetings help teach parents ways to connect school and home activities so that our students have better success! Thank you to everyone who came out!
4th-Grade Student Council Are Leaders!
Capitol & South 4th-Grade Student Council Members attended the TEPSA Leaders 'R' Us Student Leadership Conference at Frenship yesterday. These young leaders identified their strengths as a leader and are learning to create a dynamic student leadership team that enables peer participation, solutions to challenging projects, and how to network with other student leaders. This program is excellent at helping students find success and we feel so lucky that our students were able to participate.
LHS Choir Concert
The LHS Choir performed their Fall Concert under the direction of Choir Director Mrs. Amy Bayer earlier this week to a crowded audience. The JV Choir sang. The Varsity Choir Sang. There were also 3 solos. Mrs. Bayer spoke about the meaning behind each song, giving the songs more meaning for the audience. They even gave a preview of the Branches of the Military song that they will sing at the LISD Veterans Day Program on November 10th. These LHS students did a beautiful job!
Perfect Attendance Awarded!
ABC Principal Ashley Howard and Assistant Principal Ginger Hicks #expectexcellence and share the first 9-weeks Perfect Attendance winners. Students who are in attendance every day are put into a drawing to win prizes each 9-weeks. Congratulations to these students who are learning the most because they show up every day! Thank you to Landon McCormack and City Bank for sponsoring this program!
Treats, No Tricks!
Who likes Treats, and no Tricks? Everyone! The LHS LOC students have been busy this week preparing Treats for Teachers! These kids had to go shop at the store, staying in a budget. They had to measure and prepare a recipe. When selling, they had to add, subtract, and multiply in order to take money and give change. It was "sweet" experience for the sellers and the purchasers! Thank you, Mrs. Scoggins and Ms. VanZandt for #expectingexcellence creating this experience!
Read for the Record!
Don't you love a good book? ABC participated in Read for the Record today to celebrate early literacy. This program is the world’s largest shared reading experience and celebrates and supports children’s early language and social-emotional development. This year the book read was "With Lots Of Love" by Jenny Torres Sanchez. "With Lots of Love " is a beautiful story about family, finding ways to stay connected, and sharing love across distances! Thank you, Mrs. Howard and all the ABC educators for #expectingexcellence, using technology, and making sure ABC students were part of this day that included 2 million students, thousands of classrooms & libraries!
TCFA Certified
Levelland FFA #expectsexcellence and shares that these guys are TCFA (Texas Cattle Feeders Association) Feed Yard Technician Certified! Over the past month, they have attended different trainings that will ready them for a potential career in a feedlot setting, working heavy machinery, and welding. They were certified in different categories:
1) Skid Steer and Wheel Loading
2) Feed Mill and Safety
3) Machinery Operation, Repair and Maintenance.
They finished with an in-person interview, test, welding and cutting exam, and lock-out tag-out testing. Way to go Brayden, Easton, David and Rance!

Officers Can Throw!
LMS Coaches Ram and Thorne share that they had some awesome guest Captains playing the Quarterback yesterday in the 6th-Grade Pre Athletics 7v7 drills! It was fun for the kids to interact with our favorite law enforcement and they were surprised that our Officers have an arm! What a fun way to liven up early-morning athletics!
