STEAM Week 2021:
Monday, April 19 -- Art Day
Students will receive an art lesson during class time on Monday 4/19. Make sure to pick-up your packet and to have all of your supplies ready to go on Monday morning. Please join us in thanking our special presenters: Mrs. Cleary, The Creative Arts Group, and Christa Backstrom from the Sierra Madre Playhouse!
There are a few materials that students still need:
Kinder/1st Grade:
Students will be creating portraits out of leaves, twigs, flowers or any found items from nature. Please have your students collect these items and have them ready for the art activity on Monday morning. The PTA art kit includes paper and glue.
2nd/3rd Grades:
Students will be doing a water painting activity. Please make sure that they have the water color paints and brushes that were previously passed out at the school supply distribution for use on Monday morning. The PTA art kit includes water color paper.
4th/5th Grades:
Stage Rigging Activity: The PTA kit does NOT include a small plastic figurine about 2-3" tall (e.g., Lego minifigure, LOL surprise doll, McDonalds toy, etc.); a shoebox, scissors, and spare change. Also students may want paper and markers to create a background.
Peg Doll Costume Activity: The PTA kit does NOT include scissors and a round lid/container to trace that's 3.5 - 3.75" in diameter. Also students may want acrylic paints and paintbrushes.
Fog in a Bottle: The PTA kit does NOT include a glass cup or plastic water/soda bottle, small plate, ice cubes, and hot tap water.
We will be recording all of the art lessons and every student may complete every art project (but they will need to provide their own supplies for the non-grade level project). The recordings will be available on Mrs. Lewis's Canvas page. Please encourage your student to check out the other fun projects.
Tuesday 4/20 - Thursday 4/22: Hands-On Experiments
We are excited to have a hands-on experiment for each of our students. Everything your student will need to complete the experiment is included in the kit except for the things indicated in the email from your room parents and/or teacher. If your student is attending in-person learning, make sure to send this packet to school on the day of the experiment as directed by your teacher. Please join us in thanking our teacher STEAM week team in planning the fun experiments: Mrs. Devlin, Mrs. Richey, Mrs. Halpern, Mrs. Bickel, Mrs. Covington, and Mrs. Comer!
