From the Principal:
Dear St. Bernard Parents,
Happy May’s Eve! That’s right, tomorrow begins the month of May and the last month's countdown begins. Here’s what’s going on… It’s still Easter Season (Alleluia!)! Students are in the midst of or wrapping up the final round of iReady Testing. Our Second Graders receive their First Holy Communion this coming Sunday (pray for them)! We have a few more field trips to enjoy this month. We are halfway through the Boosterthon Fundraiser timeline - raising funds this year for new Library Chairs, new Whiteboards for the classrooms, and general support for Parents Club. Olympic Day is next Thursday and includes our Boosterthon FunRun. The St. Bernard Players are neck deep in rehearsals for the Spring Production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and tickets for their 3 shows are selling like hot cakes (get yours now). The 8th Graders and Kindergarteners wrap up the year on Friday, May 16 (it’s their last day!). Then on the evening of May 21st we will have Mass for the 8th Graders and have their Graduation ceremony following. The rest of us end the School Year on Friday, May 23 with our End of the Year Awards Ceremony and early dismissal (11am). Then the St. Bernard Parish Picnic is that evening at Strickers Grove!! What a way for the kids to end the year. That’s a lot to think about and be excited for…
Here are a few other odds and ends items that I want you to know about as well.
Please continue to pray for Father Jim. He is continuing his chemotherapy treatments and as you can imagine, it is taking its toll. Father is hanging in there though and giving his all to the people he’s been called to serve. Please double down on prayers for him as he continues to bear the cross of cancer.
The Spring Expo (this past Sunday at St. Bernard) was a smashing success. I hope you were able to stop in and see the great talent and artwork of our students. Special thanks to Mr. McCarthy for the work he’s done with our students this year and the amazing art displays; to Mrs. Walker for fearlessly stepping into teaching music and for coordinating the student talent show portion of the expo; and to Mrs. Beck for helping organize the whole event and challenging her 4th graders to develop and implement business plans. Our 4th Graders raised $1,100 in total! All proceeds from this event will benefit the EBHope Foundation. Way to go 4th Grade!
Please be sure to locate any straggling school library books and send them in next week. For books that are not turned in, the cost of the book will be added to the students account. Please help us avoid this by sending in those library books.
Have a blessed rest of your week. Don’t forget to register, donate, and share for our Boosterthon Fundraiser! MyBooster - Join your fundraiser today!
Sincerely,
Mr. Ertel

The St. Bernard Players present...
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Tickets are now on sale for this year's show. Our students are making impressive progress (in just one week) on this "amazing" show! This year's production will feature nearly 50 students, so plan to come and support the growing drama department at St. Bernard. Get your tickets now before they are sold out! For all St. Bernard Drama Productions tickets are actually purchased for a specific seat. So follow the link and buy tickets for your family. This year's shows will be May 15, 16, and 17 (7pm, 7pm, and 1pm). We look forward to seeing you there...
From Parents Club:
Hi Families!
Hard to believe that we are already approaching May, which means we are also approaching Teacher Appreciation Week! Our theme this year is 'Thank you for helping us BLOOM!' We will celebrate the amazing teachers, faculty and staff of St. Bernard all next week in a variety of ways! Please see the handout in the blue folders for details on our activities for each day.
We especially need your help for Thursday's activity. We are doing a special decoration for the teachers and we'd like the students to write one thing they are thankful for or something they like about their teachers. Feel free to use the template in the green paper in the folders. Please send those back to school by next Wednesday (May 7th) so we can use them for our display.
If you're interested/able in helping with the activities for next week please reach out to Sarah Ross or Chelsea Blust. Thanks in advance to everyone that has signed up to help with Olympic Day next Thursday - we couldn't do it without you!
Thank you!
From Athletics:
Soccer Sign-Ups!!
It is time to start thinking about fall 2025 and our soccer program. The league like to have team counts set early summer, so that means we need to start our sign-ups now. Please visit our website for the link to register for next fall.
Katie Jacob and Brad Scheper will be our coordinators this year, so please reach out to them if you have any questions.
Lunch Volunteers Needed!
We need help facilitating the distribution of lunches for the students. On normal days, we need one extra adult per day to help our staff. On pizza lunch days, we need three adults to help distribute the meals. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer!!!
***Please note, all school volunteers must be current and compliant with Safe Parish. (see below)

IMPORTANT: EDCHOICE REQUIREMENTS
Our school has 175 scholarships awarded for the 2024-25 school year. There are two important steps that I need parents to complete in order for the school to receive scholarship funds to cover tuition costs:
- For each awarded EdChoice scholarship, I must have an Acceptance Form signed and turned in at the office. Nearly everyone has signed and returned them. If you have not already, please contact me in the school office. Thank you!
- Please follow the LINK to authorize St. Bernard School to deposit funds from the scholarship checks to pay for tuition. The Ohio Department of Education issues scholarship checks on a monthly basis which require this permission to be deposited. Please take care of this immediately if you have not already. Again, most of you took care of this. Thank you!
Please contact me in the school office if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you!
Yours in Christ,
Kenny Glassmeyer, Office Manager

BLUE FOLDERS
Please return all blue folders to school each week.
BLUE FOLDER CONTENTS THIS WEEK:
- Teacher Appreciation Week Flyer
- Teacher Appreciation Week Student Templates
- Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Flyer
Blue folders will go home with the OLDEST student in each family on Wednesdays, as needed, throughout the school year. These will contain any important handouts or forms that need to be submitted in paper form. Anytime we can share documents in a digital format to provide information or link you to online resources, we will do so instead of filling your home with papers.
