Dear Pawnee Families,
Thank you all for your donations to our Pawnee PTO Fundraiser! We will have our totals later this week and that will be shared in our last school newsletter for the 23-24 school next Sunday.
Get ready for our May events, you may want to take off work so you're available to participate:
-Field Day-May 20th--Grades K-1 in the AM (9:30-11:30) and Grades 3-5 in the PM (1:30-3:30).
-KG Recognition-Wednesday, May 22nd-10AM
-5th grade Recognition, Wednesday, May 22nd-2PM
iPads for Summer
All OPS students may take their iPads home over the summer for continued learning on the various educational apps. Families who would like the iPads stored at school should send a note to the teacher, or communicate through Seesaw to the teacher, that you would like the iPad to be stored at school until next August.

iPads para el Verano
Todos los estudiantes de OPS pueden llevarse sus iPads a casa durante el verano para continuar aprendiendo en las distintas aplicaciones educativas. Las familias que deseen que los iPads se guarden en la escuela deben enviar una nota al maestro, o comunicarle a través de Seesaw, que les gustaría que el iPad se guarde en la escuela hasta el próximo agosto.

The Start with a Book Program offers families and caregivers lots of engaging books and activities for getting kids hooked on reading, exploring and learning science, social studies and arts & literature all summer long — and beyond. Each free topic toolkit from Start with a Book builds on what young children already like — dinosaurs, building, animals, sports, superheroes and music — so that families and caregivers can have fun and interact meaningfully with children while helping to strengthen their reading skills.
Decodable Story Generator
The Simple View of Reading conveys how reading comprehension is the product of decoding and language comprehension. Project Read’s AI Decodable Generator provides students with practice and support to improve their decoding ability.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting books free of charge to children from birth to age five.

To help increase reading time during the summer months, BOOK IT! sends weekly emails with summer reading activities for kids. Sign up for their summer emails!
Creating a Home Library
Having a dedicated space for your child’s books isn’t just about organization; it’s about nurturing a love for reading! To create a book box or shelf, consider designating a corner in your child’s room or common area in your home. Read at Home Plan
This resource was created to assist you in understanding how to support your child’s reading development and progress. Using materials found around your home, you will be able to practice the skills necessary to help your child become a fluent reader. REACH
REACH is a self-paced interactive reading program to engage parents and children as at-home reading partners. Designed by classroom reading specialists and aligned with kindergarten through third grade standards, these self-paced interactive lessons are enjoyable for all ages.
The Reading League - Reading Buddies YouTube Series
Dott, Alphabott, and the Alphabotteers are teaching Dusty the Dog to read. That’s what makes them Reading Buddies! Combining the science of reading with lots of laughs, Reading Buddies is the fun way to teach aspiring readers the foundational components of reading.
Heggerty’s Summer Support- Phonemic Awareness
6 weeks of phonemic awareness lessons reinforce students’ knowledge while preparing them for the next step in their reading journey. Students will revisit key weeks from the grade they’ve just completed, providing them the opportunity to hear and work with the sounds in language and strengthen the connections they’ve made between letters and sounds. Circle of Security Parenting Workshop
Circle of Security Parenting Workshop in English that will run for 8 weeks on Thursday evenings beginning next week May 2nd 6-8pm.
We also offer the workshop in Spanish which are currently in session, but please have them call the LCC and get put on a waitlist for the next session.

Paper Tutoring Available for All Students
Finish the school year strong! Remember, students can access online tutoring with Paper. Resources: Students can access online tutoring seven days a week until 11 p.m. through the Clever dashboard on their iPad. Services are at no cost to students and families. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school.
