Principal's Message
Happy Sunday!
College & Career Fair
This coming week is all about our first ever College & Career Fair on Wednesday, September 25th at 6 PM! It's open to all students grades 9-12 and we hope you (the whole family!) can come! We believe that it will be a very valuable experience for our school community! A special thanks to our counselor, Ms. Mojica, for organizing this awesome opportunity!
Students who would like to volunteer their time during the event for community service can sign up on this FORM.
We also know that this event will be happening over dinner time--and you might get hungry!! So...we’ve partnered up with Rancho Vista’s ASB class which will be selling pizza meal deals for $5. It would help us to know how much pizza to order if you could indicate your interest on this form!!
Attendance Month 2
We just completed the second week of our second attendance month (Sep 9th - Oct. 10th). There are a total of 20 attendance days for this month, and you should have earned ten days so far.
Are you wondering why we are always talking about attendance? Well, your success in independent study is directly related to the amount of time and effort you put into your classes. In independent study, attendance is calculated by the amount of work that a student completes. If you hit your attendance goal, you very likely are on track to pass all your classes. If you fall short of your attendance goal, there is a high probability that you are behind in your classes and at risk of failing them - and we don’t want that to happen! Also, to remain eligible to stay in our program, students must meet the 90% attendance requirement.
If you ever need extra help or have a question, please let your supervising teacher, your counselor, or me, know! We all want you to succeed!
Have a great week!

Dear Parents and Students,
College and Career Fair
Don’t miss our upcoming Pathways to Your Future College and Career Fair on Wednesday, September 25th at 6 p.m.!
This event is a fantastic opportunity for students to explore a variety of school and career options. Whether your student is considering college or exploring other career paths, this event will provide valuable information. I look forward to seeing you there!
Staff Highlight
We’re excited to introduce our new Staff Spotlight feature! This week, we’re highlighting Mrs. Ryan, a proud representative of Louisiana State University. While she’s a UC Riverside alum, her family has strong connections to LSU, and she wears it proudly!
LSU Highlights:
Unique Campus Landmarks: LSU is home to the iconic Tiger Stadium, often referred to as "Death Valley," known for its thrilling atmosphere during football games. It’s one of the most celebrated college stadiums in the country.
Vibrant Campus Life: With over 400 student organizations, LSU provides students with numerous opportunities to get involved, from academic and cultural clubs to sports and service organizations.
Events Coming Up
In addition to the College and Career Fair, we’re introducing support groups for students facing mental health challenges or those impacted by suicide. Our goal is to provide resources and a safe space for all who need it. If your student is interested in joining, click HERE.
Reminders
- Schedule a Counseling Appointment: All students, especially seniors, should meet with me at least once per quarter. You can schedule an appointment with Ms. Mojica HERE.

Cal-SOAP Hours This Week
Ruth Ramirez, our Cal-SOAP "College Success Coach" will be at our school this Thursday from 10-2 pm.
These are her adjusted hours due to being at the College & Career Fair this Wednesday starting at 6:00 pm.
Is Your Student Playing (or Planning to play) Sports @ Your Home High School?
Students: If you are participating, or planning to participate, in athletics this year or future years, please let your teacher know. This is an important aspect of your education -- and so it's important that your supervising teacher knows about your plans!
REMINDER: ALL STUDENTS NEED A SCHOOL ID
Students: if you come to the front door of the school and don't have a school ID, we'll be asking for you to get one as soon as you enter the building! It only takes a few minutes! That will make it easier each time that you need to be "buzzed in" through the video doorbell system!
Students: PLEASE take a picture of your STUDENT ID with your cell phone!
This is so you will always have a copy in case you forget to bring it!
