Colder Weather Reminder
As colder weather settles into Ohio, please remember to send your child to school prepared with a hat, gloves, and coat. We will continue to enjoy outdoor recess any day that is above 25 degrees, with wind chill.
Chromebook Reminder
We've noticed an increase in damaged Chromebooks lately, especially broken screens. We kindly remind you that students and families are responsible for their assigned devices and may be liable for repair or replacement costs. To help keep Chromebooks safe and in good condition, we ask that you remind your child to:
- Always use the protective case, never lift by the screen, and keep the lid closed
- Store the Chromebook in safe, dry places, away from pets and extreme temperatures
- Keep food and drinks away from the device
- Remove any items from the keyboard before closing
- Insert cords and cables carefully
- Avoid placing heavy objects on top
- Clean screens only with a soft, dry microfiber cloth
If you notice any damage to your child's Chromebook, please inform your child's school immediately.
Honoring Dr. King's Dream in Mrs. Eppich's Class
As Martin Luther King Jr. Day approached, Mrs. Eppich's class dove into the life and legacy of Dr. King. The students learned about his significant contributions to civil rights, with a special focus on the famous "I Have a Dream" speech.
Through research and discussion, the students gained insights into Dr. King's impactful work. The highlight of this unit was when students crafted their own "I Have a Dream," speeches, expressing their hopes for a better world.
This project not only expanded our students' historical knowledge but also encouraged them to think critically about important social issues. We were proud to see our class developing into thoughtful, empathetic citizens.
PBIS Student-Staff Challenge
As we enter the third quarter, we're excited to continue our focus on our PBIS framework and its three pillars: Ready, Responsible, and Respectful. To celebrate our ongoing success, we're hosting our annual Student-Staff Challenge on Friday, February 6. Students will have the opportunity to face off against their teachers in a series of fun activities.
Additionally, we're recognizing academic growth: students who made progress on their winter MAP assessments will be entered into a drawing for a special activity with West principal Mrs. Breha, West liaison Miss Gentile, and our school counselor Miss Haight. We're proud of our students' efforts and look forward to a fantastic third quarter!
Staff Spotlights
April Foster, Third-Grade Teacher
Years in the district: I have been with Midview for 26 years.
What excites me most about my job: I love seeing the kids' faces when they grasp a new concept or skill. Their excitement always makes me smile.
Three adjectives students would use to describe me: Patient, Frog Lady 🐸, and an Awful Artist!
A few of my favorite things include: My 3 kitties, my children, and warm weather.
What is most important to me in my role: The most important thing for me is to be a positive role model for the students. I want the students to learn how to be kind and contribute to the world around them. I think it is as important as the academic skills they learn from me.
Jacquelyn Loudermilk, Fourth-Grade Teacher
Years in the district: This is my 13th year with Midview Schools.
Reason(s) I chose to pursue my position at Midview Local Schools: Midview is a great district. I student taught here in college and really loved the atmosphere and staff. The families in the district really make it a great place to work.
Some of my hobbies/interests outside of my career: I enjoy walking my dog, reading, and shopping with my sister.
I am not a big fan of: Negativity!
Working at Midview Local Schools has taught ME: I have learned to be way more flexible. Learning to adjust and not sweat the small stuff has made me a better educator. I know that life can quickly change for anyone and to always have an understanding attitude.
