Principal's Message:
Greetings Colts Community,
It was another great week in Colt Country! A huge thank you to our PTA and all the parents who donated time, money, food, and gifts to celebrate our hard working teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week! It was much appreciated by every single staff member! You are the best families in the world!
On Wednesday, our students showcased their artwork in the Bonsall Women's Club and Bonsall Unified School District's Art Show and Contest! We also had several groups perform and represent BWE through dance, song, and percussion. Mrs. Carcamo led our Folklorico Groups in dance and did an amazing job. Mrs. Gutierrez led our 4th grade drum line as well as 1st and 2nd Grade Choir to a standing ovation! Great job Colts! It was a wonderful evening for our school community.
On Friday, our Basketball Champions, Zags, and runner ups, Hoosiers, took on the Dream Team in a winners take all game! Mr. Camacho is definitely feeling that game this weekend as reminder that he is not a spring chicken anymore! Great game indeed! Go Colts!
As always, scroll down to our Colt's in Action section of the newsletter for pictures!
Reminders: 3rd through 6th Graders start State Testing May 14th - 29th! We got this! Go Colts!
ATTENTION:
To ensure a smooth and safe drop off in the mornings, please do not leave your car unattended or wait to long after your children get out of the car to exit. We want everyone to have enough time to get to class on time each day.

COVID Test Kits
Bonsall Unified School District has supplied two COVID test kits per student for our site. If you would like you, the parent or guardian, may pick them up at Bonsall West Elementary. These COVID tests are provided to you as a courtesy. Testing is not required by our district.
Although we are excited to have your child attend school every day, when your child is sick, we do ask you to keep him or her at home. Specifically, if your child has tested positive for COVID, he or she should remain at home for five (5) days from the onset of symptoms or positive COVID test (if asymptomatic). Your child may return on Day 6, unless he or she remains sick. Masking upon return to school is not required by the District.
We wish you great health as we know the cold and flu season approaches, and encourage you to place special attention to taking practical steps to boost your student’s immune system by providing nutritious food, proper amounts of sleep, and good doses of exercise.

The Leader in Me
At Bonsall West Elementary School we are focusing on the Leader in Me to build lifelong leadership skills.
We want our students to focus on the 7 habits:
1. Feel empowered to be proactive and be in charge of themselves.
2. Set goals and begin with the end in mind,
3. Focus on work first then play with put first things first.
4. Have an abundance mindset and think win-win.
5. Listen to our peers and seek first to understand, then be understood.
6. Work collaboratively and synergize.
7. Have school work/life balance and sharpen the saw.
We have a couple of resources that explains the paradigm shifts and habits that we focus on and will get them to you soon.
All students will attend a BWE expectations assembly this week. We will review schoolwide expectations/rules and answer any questions.
