February Attendance Class Competition Update
After one full week of the February attendance class competition, the standings are:
1st Place: Grade 1/2 (95%)
2nd Place: Grade 4 (94.55%)
3rd Place: Grade 5 (92.94%)
4th Place: Grade K/1 (90%)
5th Place: Grade 3 (89.33%)
Attendance and Chronic Absenteeism Update
Attendance this past week was 92.68%, which is up significantly from 89.58% the previous week. Attendance has continued to stabilize and now improve after the weekly low of 75.49% during the week leading up to holiday break.
After 107 school days, cumulative attendance is 93.26%, and cumulative Chronic Absenteeism rate (10% or more of cumulative school days missed) has started to drop to 29.6% after the year-high of 31%.

Dear Eagle Community,
Happy Valentine's Week! This is always a fun week at school so let's aim for 100% attendance. Next week (February 17-21) there is no school due to President's Week. We will be back in session on Monday, February 24.
Our Valentine's Day See's fundraiser is underway! Please see Ms. Nancy and flyers below for more information.
Read Across America Week is coming soon in early March! Ms. Amerson is planning all sorts of fun throughout the week for VBCS students. If you would like to donate books that will be given out to students, please see Ms. Nancy or Ms. Amerson!
Our next district-wide Native Learner Advisory Committee (NLAC) meeting will take place this Tuesday 2/11 from 5-6:30PM at the Pala Housing Resource Center. Please plan to attend to share your voice!
Our next Indian Education Council meeting will take place this Wednesday 2/12 from 1:30-2:30PM at school. We will be planning next steps on our previously determined 2024-25 initiative of partnering with the elders and providers of the Pala Seniors Program. Please email me if you have an interest in being part of this important community council.
Would you like to be part of our VBCS Charter Committee? Educators, families, and community members will collaborate on revising the charter for Vivian Banks Charter School. The revised charter will be presented to the BUSD school board and voted on in May or June. Please email me if you'd like to be be part of the team!

3rd annual Bonsall Woman’s Club/BUSD Stages of Inspiration Art Contest & Show: “Belong, BELIEVE, Achieve”

PRIZES Sponsored by Nessy Burgers will be awarded by age/category.

2D (“fine arts”)
Watercolor, acrylic, or oil painting; oil pastel, chalk pastel, pen and ink, or graphite drawings; mixed media work
3D (“crafts”)
Sewing, crochet, knitting, cross stitch, needlepoint, embroidery, pottery, sculpture, woodwork, metalsmithing, jewelry, “trash-to-treasure” etc.

grades 6-12 only, 8x10 prints only
Original art only; pre-packaged “kits” not allowed.
BUSD students will also be “taking the stage” for musical and dance performances during this celebration of THE ARTS!
