Weekly Memo
Some thoughts for the starting school year

Hi Everyone,
I hope you all are having a nice week. We have seen some signs of spring (the daffodils are starting to pop on campus) and the temperatures have not been so arctic. A definite sign of spring will be on Sunday when we "Spring Ahead" and gain an hour of daylight in the afternoon. Don't forget!
It's hard to believe we are already halfway through Quarter 3 (ends 3/28). Please make sure your students are staying up to date on their work (especially when the weather turns nice) so that we can finish the year on a positive note. As always if you have any questions or need anything, please reach out to Liza or me.
Thanks,
Amanda
Maxine Adelson ('25) went to the State House this week as part of her Extended Learning Opportunity (ELO). She testified in support of the Equal Rights Amendment and fielded questions after her testimony (not an easy feat!). She did AMAZING! She was also invited by State Representative, Holly Sargent, to attend the press conference ahead of the hearing.
This was a great opportunity for Maxine and just one of the ways ELOs can be used to enhance experiences for our students. If you are interested in learning more about ELOs, please reach out to Mrs. Pinette (jpinette@yorkschools.org).
Great job not only representing YHS, but York as well, Maxine. We are so proud of you!
Parent-Teacher Conferences
We have our final round of spring Parent-Teacher Conferences today. Just a reminder that students can (and should!) join in on these meetings. Conferences will be:
Thursday, March 6 from 2:30-7:00.

Inclement Weather
Tis the season for delays and school cancellations. Superintendent Doak sent out the annual school closure letter back in October, but figured it was good to remind everyone about our procedures.
- If we have a two-hour delay, we start Block 1 at 9:50 (we do not send AM SRTC) and go through our entire bell schedule. If you have late arrival in your schedule Block 2 begins at 10:25.
- If school is canceled, we skip that color day and return to school the following day (all of our blue/white days are pre-determined).
- If Superintendent Doak calls a remote learning day we will follow the schedule below.
We try to notify everyone as soon as possible when there are changes to our school schedule. Superintendent Doak works closely with the highway department, the transportation department, and fellow superintendents to make the best possible decision for school cancellations.

The Athletics Participant Form and the Emergency Information Form must be completed before participation will be allowed.
