Staff Spotlight
Meet Gina Tacchia, 2nd Grade Teacher, Reed School
What's your favorite food? I'm a big fan of Italian food from appetizers, to main dishes and desserts. I not only love eating Italian food but also have many cherished memories of making homemade ravioli and pizzas with my family for several holiday events. I am also looking forward to more family memories involving Italian food as we head to Italy in the fall to attend and celebrate my nephew's wedding. Why did you join D92?
I began my educational journey as a student teacher in District 92. Upon completion of my student teaching, I became a paraprofessional for the remainder of that school year. Throughout that year with the district I was able to connect with the highly motivated and dedicated individuals that worked here. I was excited about the prospect of working in this district because of its strong commitment to fostering a nurturing learning environment. It's crazy to think that in about three short months I will also be retiring from the same place where it all started.
What do you love most about our students?
I love seeing the motivation and curiosity our students come to school with each day. Their enthusiasm turns them into active learners in the classroom. I love watching them persevere through challenging and difficult learning tasks and then get excited and revel in their successes. Their kindness and willingness to help others is also at the top of my list of the things I love about District 92 students.
Meet Carolyn Kimmey, Paraprofessional, Reed School
Why did I join D92?
I joined D92 because a friend from my church had gone back to school to earn her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and was also doing some subbing as well. She knew that I had been subbing too and that D92 was calling her quite often so she encouraged me to promptly get on their sub list. My first sub job was at Ludwig as a Special Educational paraprofessional with Ms.Rizzo's class. I recall that morning telling myself that even though my degree was in Elementary Education, I ought to give it a try. I found it to be so rewarding and I never looked back! That day led me to working with a dedicated team and having become my second family.
What do I enjoy most about working in D92?
I enjoy the students-having those relationships and sharing in their success- no matter how great or small it is. In addition, along with them are given an opportunity to be "our best self" and to learn from each other.
What impact do you hope to leave on others?
I would hope to leave them with a positive attitude and that together we can and will make a difference. Even though there may be challenges, we must not give up and that tomorrow brings another day to try again.
Meet Claire Ruff, Psychologist, Walsh School
What do you enjoy most about working in D92?
I love the sense of community in D92. Because of our small size, we have a unique opportunity to know our families and our colleagues better than we might in a larger district. I am inspired by my colleagues at Walsh, whom I enjoy working with as we engage in creative and student focused problem-solving in order to best serve our littlest learners. I am especially delighted by the joy and love of learning that our young students at Walsh bring to our building every single day.
What's your favorite hobby?
My favorite hobby is reading! I have been a voracious reader since I was young, and can get easily lost in a book. When I have any additional spare time, I love to write my own stories as well.
Do you have a favorite vacation spot?
My favorite vacation spot is anywhere on a beach! I love being near a large body of water, which brings such a sense of calm and peace for me. It is also my favorite place to read.
Meet Penny Gustafson, Tech Expert & SIS Coordinator
What do you enjoy most about working in D92?
What I enjoy most about working in D92 is the sense of support from those around me. We all face challenges and victories in life and it is great to know that my work family walks and supports the journey with me! I have loved being able to work with such great people that keep this crazy work life interesting, entertaining and so enjoyable! D92 is truly a family that cares and I am so grateful and honored to be a part of it.
What impact do you hope to leave on others?
My hope is to always walk away from interactions with those around me feeling heard, appreciated and seen!
What's your favorite type of music?
I truly have a love for all music. My daily playlist contains some christian scat, rap, worship and peppered with some nigerian fuji/afrobeats! Music is my happy place!
Meet Lisa Krueger, Payroll and Benefits Coordinator
What do you enjoy most about working in D92?
I love working in D92 as the payroll professional because I feel a strong sense of purpose in ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time, which directly supports the hardworking educators and staff who make a difference in our students' lives. With the assistance of other staff members, I’ve been able to streamline processes and contribute to a smooth operation. The collaborative atmosphere among my colleagues here in the district office helps make even the most complex tasks feel manageable, and I take pride in being an integral part of a team that supports both the financial health of the district and the well-being of its staff. My coworkers aren’t just colleagues; they’ve become like family to me. We collaborate closely, supporting each other through both the challenges and successes we face together. The bonds we’ve built go beyond the workplace, and there’s a genuine sense of caring and respect in everything we do. Working in the district office is a unique environment where we all share a common goal - ensuring the best outcomes for our students and schools - and that shared purpose makes it feel less like a job and more like a mission we’re all invested in.
What's your favorite food?
Pizza! The endless variety of pizza styles and toppings means there's always something new to try, making each pizza unique. The different options for a crust - thin, deep dish, stuffed - lay the foundation for just about anything - whether it's Italian sausage, mushrooms, and extra cheese, or olive oil, basil, tomato, and fresh mozzarella. Pizza is also an option for desert - a cookie base, rich creamy frosting and either fruit or candy for the toppings - delicious! No matter the occasion or time of day, pizza should always be on the menu.
What does being a Bulldog mean to you?
As an alum of Butler University, I have been a Bulldog for many years. While at Butler University, I received an education grounded in academic excellence with a strong emphasis on teamwork, community service and supporting one another. This is called The Butler Way. I think it could also be called The Bulldog Way as it embodies the characteristics of a bulldog. It also mirrors the education my children received while students in D92, and the traits I witness in D92 staff members. A bulldog is loyal, determined and very intelligent. Being a Bulldog in D92 means showing dedication to our school community and exhibiting a commitment to support one another. Like the bulldog, students and staff are encouraged to be courageous, strong and respectful. Whether in the classroom or in our personal lives, embodying the bulldog spirit is about showing strength, pride, determination, loyalty, and resilience in everything we pursue. Plus, who doesn’t love a cute bulldog puppy?
Meet Annemarie Hoehn, Speech Language Pathologist, Reed School
What do you love most about our students?
I love all my students and my life's passion is helping all children find their voice. Best of all, I love their infectious joy and love for learning.
Who inspires you?
I am inspired by kindness and acts of selflessness by people every single day. I strive to focus on the positive and find the good in others. Having said that, I do find my greatest inspiration from my family. From my parents, they inspire me to be forever and infinitely selfless, generous and loving. From my 4 siblings they inspire me to think outside the box, to truly "hear" people, to accept people where they are, and to be supportive beyond measure. From my children: my older son inspires me with his infinite strength, determination, perseverance, and independence. My younger son inspires me with his empathy, kindness, and inquisitive love for life.
What impact do you hope to leave on others?
I aspire to live by example. I have a few cliches I say on the regular. One, kindness is free. Two, always be unapologetically yourself and you won't have regrets. Three, it's always best to be honest; the truth is easy to remember. I hope that my passion to help others - students, colleagues, family, friends, and even strangers - is contagious.
Do you have a favorite vacation spot?
I love anywhere near a body of water...calming and peaceful!
Meet Colleen Knapik, Psychologist, Reed School
What's your favorite part about being a member of D92?
Although this is my tenth year as a school psychologist, this is my first year in District 92. Everyone I have met at Reed has been so incredible to work with and supportive as I learn how Reed operates. It is amazing to see how deeply staff care about the students who walk through our doors. I have also loved getting to know so many students and families this year! I love this age group and feel so privileged to be a Reed Bulldog!
What do you enjoy most about working in D92?
Because I live within District 92, I love that I am able to give back to my community by helping the children and families of Reed School!
Do you have a favorite vacation spot?
I love Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan, Wisconsin!
