DCSC Construction Update

This school year is bringing a lot of exciting changes! We are happy to announce that the front office and back wing of new classrooms at South Elementary have been completed. Now, we are preparing to move into phase two. At DCHS, our new bus lot was created, and several other structural changes were made. Many more changes, both big and small, are still to come.

If you haven't already had the opportunity to see it, South Elementary's front office is ready for action! When you walk in, our school secretary and treasurer are smiling and ready to greet all guests. It is very different from what we had before, both in design and security. It is just one of many improvements that will enhance safety in the building.

There are classes in the new classrooms! At long last, the work is (mostly) done on this part of the building, and we have smiling faces sitting in desks each day. We are so excited to finally fill this space and create a happy learning environment for all. Note that there is updated technology in this new wing, which will eventually be done in all classrooms.

Other renovations made this summer include an improved music room, doors placed on the temporary gym wall (to access to new class wing easier), and a temporary cafeteria!

Summer Break provided the perfect opportunity for our construction crews to get work done around the building without disrupting the learning environment. They blocked off parts of the building with temporary walls, finished paving the new bus lot (curbing and asphalt to come later), began digging and plotting new additions around the building, finished painting the current tennis courts and began working on the new ones, completed a lot of ceiling work (electrical, structural, etc.), and made sure safe pathways were ready for students to utilize on the first day of school!

We are making progress on several phases of our project plan! Here is a brief overview of what is to come within the next year. Please note that all estimated completion dates are subject to change as construction continues.
