NEWS FROM THE PANTHER DEN
WEEK 15 EDITION
WEEK 15 REFLECTION
This is the second part of a three series reflection on "Seasons in December." Last week I reflected on "The Season of Gratitude."
The hustle and bustle of the holidays can be incredibly hectic and stressful. Classrooms are busy putting the final touches on assignments prior to the break, winter sports are beginning their games which means late nights for students and parents, lines at stores tend to be long, the gift you are looking for that a love one requested is hard to find and the rush to get home before the Amazon truck delivers anything seems to be a daily challenge. Finding joy in the regular day to day activities can be difficult.
However, it important to remember that joy can serve as a powerful antidote to stress and can jumpstart the holiday season. Spreading joy doesn’t have to be elaborate. Sometimes, it’s the small gestures—a smile, a kind word, or a shared laugh—that leave the deepest impact. These acts not only brighten someone else’s day but also create a ripple effect, fostering a more positive environment for everyone. Let us remember that joy is contagious, and we each have the power to inspire it in one another. It happened this week for me when three students offered to decorate my door for the door decorating contest. It brought a smile to my face and showcased the kindness of our students. It is there where I found joy.
This is also a perfect time to acknowledge the joy of hard work. Our students, staff, and teachers have poured their energy into making the first half of the year successful. Hard work isn’t just about individual effort; it’s about collaboration and recognizing that we achieve more when we work together. Whether it’s students partnering on a group project, teachers sharing resources, or families supporting our school initiatives, collaboration is at the heart of our success. It is there where we find joy.
Let us not forget about the importance of school spirit during these last weeks before the break. School spirit is more than wearing "blue and gold" or cheering at games; it’s about a shared pride in our community and the collective energy we bring to everything we do. As we prepare for the holiday concert, the winter spirit week, and various classroom activities, we need to embrace the opportunity to strengthen our connections and celebrate our achievements. It is there where we find joy.
I encourage each of you to find ways to spread joy this upcoming week. Compliment a classmate or colleague, lend a hand to someone in need, or participate in our holiday/pep rally activities with enthusiasm. Make this last week not just productive, but memorable and uplifting for everyone in our school family. It is there where we find joy.
Thank you for your continued hard work, collaboration, and dedication to adapt, evolve and excel. Together, we can create a community where joy thrives, even during these busy and hectic times. Don't miss out on this season of joy. It's one that can last far beyond the holidays because it can be found throughout Golden Panther Territory. Don't get too busy to find it and celebrate it. #nocknation

She earned division and county championships in Girls Basketball and a State Sectional Championship in Softball. She was also named Coach of the Year four years in a row in Boys Golf. Ruth, along with two other colleagues, started the Morris County Basketball Tournament for girls. Ruth was also one of the first (if not the first) female to become an Athletic Director in the state and was named Athletic Director of the Year in 1987.
