Weekly Updates from MCPS
End of Year Closeout
Hello Seneca Valley Families:
Thank you for your patience and understanding. This has been a memorable end to the school year, to say the least. Many of you have received the message from MCPS about curbside End-of-Year Closeout Process for Families. Our school will offer curbside pick-up of items on June 22nd and June 23rd. We will provide this service to cars from 8 am – 4 pm, on these days. We ask you to follow the schedule details provided below. We have scheduled this time to distribute items from hall lockers and PE lockers, yearbooks, and remaining honor cords, medals, and other regalia. We will also be distributing Maryland State High School Diplomas to our graduating seniors at these times. Additionally, you can turn in Seneca Valley High School materials such as library books, textbooks, school owned instruments, etc. We are using the curbside for the retrieval of your child’s belongings in an effort to serve our families, while decreasing the risks to our community.
- Students who will be returning to MCPS will keep their Chromebooks over the summer.
- Students who will be leaving MCPS will need to return their Chromebook, charger, and case.
SENIORS ONLY: Please feel free to wear your cap, gown, and any earned regalia when you come to drop off and pick up your items. We will have a special area set aside with a Seneca Valley backdrop set up for you to take a picture in front of holding your diploma. We will not have a photographer present, so please bring a family member with you to snap the picture. All social distancing must be adhered to.
- MCPS Staff will follow the CDC guidelines, maintain social distancing and will be wearing face coverings and gloves.
- Drivers & occupants are not permitted to exit the vehicle.
- We will accommodate walk up persons as well, but we asks individuals to follow similar guidelines to those when you enter Montgomery County businesses

Secondary Report Cards
Secondary report cards will be mailed on June 23, 2020, and will reflect the revised grading policy approved by the Board of Education. For high school credit semester courses, students/families were able to select a final semester grade (a letter grade or Pass/Incomplete), which should be reflected on the report card. If you were not able to make the choice in the online portal or would like to revisit the selection, please contact your child’s school counselor.

Community Resources
Below is information regarding food/grocery access beyond the MCPS school meal sites:
Food Assistance Resource Map: The Montgomery County Food Council created an interactive map of food assistance providers and benefits application assistance sites in Montgomery County. It is searchable by location, food assistance type, accessibility and many other special features. This resource can give principals and families a quick view of local resources in their area. The information indicates where, when and how to access the resources. **We would caution parents and staff supporting parents to pay particular attention to how one qualifies to access food as some sites state requirements.
Weekend Bag Program: MCPS, Manna Food Center, and Women Who Care Ministries are distributing weekend backpacks with groceries to the families of MCPS students each Friday. The location of distribution sites and times are listed at the bottom of the webpage.
