Shepherd High School Weekly Update
19 August 2024
Brief Message From the Principal
The first two days of the year were GREAT! Tomorrow is our first Monday so there will surely be forgotten schedules and locker combinations but don't worry we will get you where you need to be and help you open that locker. Students will probably be seeing some homework this week too. Make sure to stay ahead of your academics so that you are not scrambling later in the trimester.
With warm weather this week, make sure that your attire is school appropriate. If you aren't sure, check out the Student Handbook (page 22) for dress code information.
- Mr. Cornwell, SHS Principal
🕣 Daily Schedule 📆
PrimeTime
On Tuesday we will be running our Prime Time schedule again. This week Chief Sawyer will be presenting to the student body about school safety topics. SPS takes student safety very seriously and we are fortunate to have a Chief of Police who is both knowledgable and relatable.
Student Drop-off/Pick-up
Student drop-off and pick-up will be following the traffic pattern that was used PRIOR to spring break last year. See the image below for details. Please drive slowly and safely to help ensure that everyone gets to and from school safely.
CTE
Classes, at Mt. Pleasant CTE, start on Tuesday (MPHS's first day of school). For those students attending CTE and wishing to drive, you need to complete and turn in a parking pass application. We have a few printed copies in the High School office as well.
Attendance Information
Good school attendance is a habit every student should develop. Regular attendance is essential for each student to take advantage of their educational opportunities. If a child must be absent from school, one of the following is required:
A phone call (989-828-6601) to the school on the day of the absence letting the school know why the student is absent and when the student is expected to return to school.
Upon return to school, the student or parent/guardian must bring a note signed and dated by the parent/guardian with a specific reason for the absence.
The student is responsible for making up any schoolwork missed due to their absence.
Attendance is taken by teachers on the following basis: Secondary (MS/HS) - At the beginning of each scheduled class period.
2024 Homecoming Closet
The Women's Resource Center of MidMichigan is having their 2024 Homecoming Closet from September 3 - October 12. See the image for details.
