More information about our Unified Arts
Halloween at TFS
Dear TFS Families,
Thank you parents/guardians
Thank you so much to the families who have reached out to share that their child is going to be absent due to an appointment, travel or trip. This communication is critical to ensure our unexcused absences are reduced at TFS and we thank you for your cooperation.
Spirit Week Next Week
We are excited that next week is Spirit Week. Our students and staff have been working so hard in all areas of their day so an infusion of fun, creativity and laughter is well needed this time of year. Please see above for each day's theme.
Conferences
Conferences start next week and we are excited to share information about your child's learning and social skill development at TFS. One of our major goals is to share more data and information about your child's learning and growth and we know our educators are prepared to do so at conferences.
603 Grant and Acadience Assessment
As part of the 603 Literacy Grant that TFS was awarded last year, we have started our TFS Literacy Leadership Team that includes TFS parent Lauren Martone, two members of the NH Department of Education and other TFS educators and SAU partners. More to come on our plans to expand parents/guardians knowledge about literacy and TFS practices in reading and writing.
As part of this Grant, we have access to a literacy assessment called Acadience. This week, teachers began the 5 minutes Acadience assessments that focus on how well your child is doing in the various areas of reading. As soon as we finish the Acadience assessments in K-4, we will send home the results with a letter explaining your child's results. These assessments will be given 3x this year and next.
Early Release Professional Development
All educators on Thursday afternoon spent time learning more about: Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention, Stop the Bleed, Cardiac Science AED, seizure and asthma overview and review of epi-pen training.
All educators K-4 completed the DESSA mini (an 8 question social skills screener) for each student. Ask more about your child's DESSA results at conferences. Once parent reports are available, we will send home your child's results. The screening results will help guide our instruction in social skills (DESSA is aligned with Second Step) and whether we need to provide more targeted instruction in some social skills domains.
