AWARDS & NEWS
- New York Times Bestseller
- Margaret A. Edwards Award
I fell in love with the main character of this book in Out of My Mind. An incredible story that was turned into a movie this past November on Disney streaming. I wanted to hear more about her journey so I picked up the second in this set of three books. Out of My Heart follows Melody Brooks, a brilliant 12-year-old girl with cerebral palsy, as she embarks on an exciting new adventure—summer camp!
For the first time, Melody leaves home to attend a camp designed for kids with disabilities. Nervous yet determined, she faces new challenges, from zip-lining to making friends and finding her independence. Along the way, she discovers confidence, joy, and the power of believing in herself.
This heartfelt story is about courage, friendship, and pushing past limits to experience life to the fullest.
If you like books like Wonder, Rules, Fish in a Tree this book is for you! All are available at your library, check out more titles on our shelves with our online catalog.

Message from MJH Administration
I want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of kindness in our school community. For February, we are celebrating kindness month, a time to focus on spreading compassion, empathy, and positivity.
I encourage you to join us in promoting kindness both at home and in the community. Small acts of kindness can have a big impact on those around us, and together, we can create a more caring and inclusive environment for all.
We are also about to begin our 5th six weeks of school and are in full preparation mode for our upcoming STAAR exams in April. We need our students to be present daily, so they do not miss out on any instruction. Please work with us on motivating your children to come to school every day and to arrive on time. We have weekly and six week incentives for those that have good attendance! Again, thank you for your commitment to your child's success.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Jessica Dominguez, Principal
Mrs. Belinda Hinojosa, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Christie Ayala, Assistant Principal
