Our annual Spring Clean-Up Day was a success! Despite the rain, your enthusiasm and hard work prevailed, leaving our school looking pristine and inviting. A huge thank you to our families and the Goulds Lions Club for coming out! By coming together as a community to tackle this task, we demonstrate our collective responsibility for our environment and our commitment to creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

Teachers will be involved in professional development on Friday, June 7th. There will be no school for students.
Grade 5 School Leaving
Our Grade 5 School Leaving Assembly is scheduled for June 10th at 1:00 pm in our school gym. This is not a formal event. Students are asked to dress in casual clothes (capris, shorts, casual summer wear). Three tickets will be available for each student’s family. This will be a wonderful opportunity for our Grade 5 students to celebrate their achievements and reflect on their years at Goulds Elementary.
Used Book Sale
Our annual music program Used Book Sale will take place on Tuesday, June 18th. We will happily welcome donations of books appropriate for 5-11 year olds. These can be dropped off at our main office. Please contact Ms. Reckling at bethreckling@nlesd.ca if you are available to volunteer to help with the sale in any capacity. We are looking for volunteers to prepare popcorn and assist with the sale on June 18th.
Pink Shirt Day
The next Pink T-Shirt Day will be on Wednesday, June 19th!
Lost and Found
All remaining items in the Lost & Found box have been placed on several tables in the bin outside of our cafeteria . If your child is missing any items they may like to visit the school to check through the bin. Any unclaimed items will be sent to the Goodwill Center on Friday, June 21st.
Report Cards
Third term report cards will be going home with your child on June 20th. Be sure to talk to your child about their successes this year. We also ask that you continue to encourage your child to read over the summer. The lazy, hazy days of summer are a great time to pore over the pages of a good book. Joining the library is another suggestion. Remember that children become better readers by reading.
Last Day Dismissal
Please note that students will dismissed at 12:30 on their last day-June 20th.
School Supply Lists
Included with your child’s report card you will find a supply list detailing items that your child will need in next year’s grade (eg. exercises, pencils, pens, markers etc.) This will enable you to take advantage of “Back to School” sales in August. These lists will also be posted on our school webpage.
School Supplies Donation
If you are in need of school supplies for September, but are finding it a financial burden, we have a limited supply of school supplies that have been donated. Please contact me at jameskieley@nlesd.ca if you are in need of this support.
Parent Requests for September 2024-25
It is not our policy at École Goulds Elementary to entertain requests for specific teachers or classes. When teachers compile class lists they place much effort into organizing the classes based on academic ability, behavioral /social or other issues. It is a huge task that takes a lot of time. Each child's placement in a class is done with much consideration. In a school the size of ours, it would be virtually impossible for us to accommodate requests from parents. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
Happy Retirement
Four incredible members of our staff— Ms. Julia Costello, Mr. Bill Doyle, Ms. Marina Foley and Ms. Dawn Hanlon, are retiring from their roles here at Goulds Elementary.
Their dedication and impact have touched the lives of countless students. While we will miss them dearly, we celebrate their well-deserved retirement and wish them nothing but the best in this new chapter of their lives.
Please join us in expressing our gratitude and best wishes to them. They will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Goodbye & Good Luck
Ms.Putt, Ms. Peters, Ms. Nuotio-Trimm, Ms. Kenny, Ms. Dowden, Ms. Lawrence, Ms. Lee, Ms. Brophy, and Ms. King will finish their positions at the end of this school year. Thank you for all you have done and good luck to all of you in your future endeavors! You will be missed at Goulds Elementary. We hope to see you back here again!
In terms of our wonderful Student Assistants, every year we are uncertain as to who will and will not be returning. We hope to see them all again next year! Thank you to Ms. Hickey, Ms. Nash, Ms. O'Leary, Ms. Strait and Ms. Vickers for their invaluable contributions.
Good Luck Mr. Kieley
As you embark on this new chapter of your professional journey, we wanted to take a moment to express our sincerest gratitude and best wishes. Your departure leaves us with mixed emotions – sad to see you go, yet thrilled for the exciting opportunities that lie ahead for you.
During your tenure as our principal, you have left an indelible mark on our school community. Your positive impact has been felt by students, staff, parents, and everyone fortunate enough to cross paths with you. Your unwavering dedication to our school's success, coupled with your exceptional leadership skills, has truly transformed our educational environment for the better.

June Recycling Blitz
Our next Recycling Blitz will take place on Wednesday, June 19th. Students are asked to bring 10 recyclables to school that Thursday. Each child bringing in 10 recyclables will receive a chance to win a prize. We will give a prize of two $5 gift cards per grade level. The more items
brought in, the greater his/her chances to win the gift cards. Please continue to send in recyclables to support our school recycling program. If your child has more than 10, parents can drop at the designated area in the back parking lot. Be sure to drop a note to your child’s teacher indicating the number of recyclables dropped off.
