Message From The Principal
Greetings Poynter Families,
First off, a big thank you to the Hillsboro Schools Foundation for organizing a fundraiser that provided school supplies for many of our students. Also, Bridgeport Distribution partnered with Amazon to deliver a surprise drop-off of supplies. We feel so lucky to be part of an amazing community that supports our middle school students.
This week, our teachers gave students a lot of opportunities to interact and meet each other. The picture on the right shows a class where students interviewed a peer and then introduced that peer to the class. These activities help build community in the classroom and are just fun! I hope your students have had as good a time getting to know their teachers as we have had getting to know them.
Go Patriots!

Principal

Announcements
Lock Down Drill
This week, we will have our first lock down drill of the year. Practicing our procedures helps ensure your students' safety in the event of an emergency. We know this particular drill can be stressful for students. Please give your them a heads up that this is happening. We will as well.
MAP Testing In Math
This week, we will be having MAP testing in our math classes. MAP testing provides a snapshot of how your student is progressing in math. It allows us to provide needed supports and helps us understand how well we are serving your students. Please encourage your students to get lots of sleep, eat a nutritious breakfast, and do the best they can!
Dance Postponed
We had originally planned on holding a dance on September 26. We are postponing to allow more time to prepare an amazing time. We are currently looking at having the dance towards the end of October.
Staff Spotlight
Bill John - Special Education Teacher
This is Mr. John's 3rd year at Poynter. His favorite thing about Poynter is the staff and students he gets to work with every day. When not at work, Mr. John is cooking up a storm in the kitchen, working in his garden, drawing, going on long hikes, or going to the movies.
